Willowbank Raceway, Nostalgia Drags.
Sunday 23rd February 2014

Smith Bros Racing, where not among the winners, but had an absolute blast.

I showed up wanting that elusive 13 sec ET,  having changed the gearing the week before to standard gearing 16 tooth front, 38 on the back and having not tried this set up before, thought I could give it a bit more off the line and gain some mph in the deep end.

So I..
Lined up for first round of qualifies on the Sunday, over excited and with first race
jitters, so I red lit, left with not enough revs so it bogs down I pumped
the clutch and ran on to a 14.7 @ 89mph. I thought the speed was good for a 14.1 / .2

Lined up against Dad for round two, this time without the jitters. both went .1
at the tree, I hit the 60' in 1.893 for a new PB, at the 1/8 in 8.692 @
76.50mph another PB, onto the 1/4 in 14.011 @ 90.48mph my new PB. I got back to the pits on a high bragging about that 1.8 @ the 60' the little 400F was on a mission and that 14.0 was so
bloody close.

My little bro, Isaac wanted to knock me off my high chair, said he'd give me a race for round three, having just run a PB of 13.4 on his CB750 K7. I thought it would be perfect, if I could just stay with him, that 13 would come. So it was on..
I left the tree with a R/T of .006 to his .235, hit the 60' in 1.910 to his
1.977, the 1/8 in 8.632 @ 78.44mph to his 8.444 @ 82.68mph, and the 1/4 in
13.822 @ 91.91mph to his 13.319 @ 99.27mph. Yeehaa new PB's for us both
at the 1/8 and 1/4 in both ET and mph.

I was stoked. I could have packed up an gone home there and then and well I probably should have as the next three rounds of racing I over raced the bike and myself with red lights, miss
shifts and red lights, just call me Lollipop ::) you have my permission lol
I ran a 13 So I was happy bloody happy.

Isaac got his k7 down to a 13.2?? @ 101mph Top stuff mate, your last race against Joe, where you were a couple hundreds off your time and he was a couple thousands off, was the difference between you making the final mate so well done.
Dad you qualified lucky #13. I won't tell the boy's there was only thirteen bikes though.... ;D

Big Congrats to Ethan Wright on his Barred, slick tired, 1200cc Z9 for the win. I think he ran a 9.72 on his 9.70 and Joe Marshall on his A/ Streeter 1500cc GSX EF for the runner up, red lit and broke out went 8.93 on his 8.99

Thanks Bill, yep we are definitely hooked.. and loving it.

How do you leave the line on Samauto? in gear, revved up so brakes still hold then release?

AJ, it was closer than Billy is letting on, we both ran 12.183s  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Next time out, Billy will go quicker, even without the brake.

At the last two events, the bike was going quicker with every run as the new rings bedded in.

My 12.183 was on an early shut off due to the other guy fouling on the line.

Next time it will go in the 11s or very close. 8)

The nice thing about the Hondamatics is that they run the same ET's if the rider's weights are the same.  ;)
