Willowbank is no longer an ANDRA sanctioned track, they have changed over to the IHRA. I had to get a temporary IHRA license and a log book before I could race, which wasn't a big drama in the end.

I am still having problems with my bike.
Dad had some slight clutch slipping issues but still managed to lower his best time down to a 13.4
Isaac swapped the motor out of his K7 into his K2 drag bike and ran some 12.9 sec passes one of them being in the A final against a Z9. The two youngest riders on bikes they hadn't raced before were in the A final together. Isaac missed out on the win by .08 his reaction let him down.

Pictures and videos later if I can load them. If you have Facebook look up Racing is Life there is videos on that page.

A Final

Brett Copping in left lane on his Dad's z9 just beat my little brother Isaac on his K2 by .08
Isaac was closer to his dial in but his .2 something light lost it for him.

Nice pics. I love the look of that Willowbank track, very photogenic.
I was there racing 20 years ago and can see it's only gotten better. Besides where do you find a Koala in the trees in the pits here in America, the best I've found so far is alligators and they're not as cute.

Thanks NitroHunter,
Willowbank is a great track for racing and taking photos and videos. Funny thing you mentioned the Koala as there was one just behind the trailer about 5 metres up when we were loading the bikes on the Sunday.

Robbie what were you racing 20 years ago?

The sun can make it a little difficult to see the lights on the tree in the late afternoon at Willowbank.
At times they have stopped the racing to let the sun go down.

Robbie what were you racing 20 years ago?
The Bruce Springsteen song "Glory Days" is playing in my head right now.  8)  8)  8)
At the conclusion of our Giant Killer (finished #8) 1995 NHRA season we brought Gary Densham's NEC sponsored nitro funnycar to Australia. We ran the ANDRA series in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, and Melbourne, and returned Stateside in time for the Winternationals in Pomona 1996. FYI we beat out Peter Russo for the championship by one round, I believe by virtue of setting the National ET record at Caulder Park.
I was the bottom end guy of just a 3 man crew including Brad Simpson a nitro racer pal of ours who is from there.
OK indulge me in one story describing the great race fans there.  ::)
At our final event we knew they were giving us the best prepped race surface of the series, and decided to really get after it. The promoters warned us that if we run the number, the fans will go so crazy, you'll think you're rock stars. Sure...
Due to a lot of advance publicity there were 40,000 in attendance at Caulder. When our pal Jim Walton - the retired John Force of Aussie drag racing - rode his custom Harley chopper up on the starting line with us those folks just went crazy for him. (I don't recall EVER seeing that allowed in the NHRA). Pretty cool. And yes when that record number showed up on board, we're riding down to pick up the car and that place is going wild, Brad turns to me and says "Bon Jovi has arrived". Oh boy let me tell you what that was no kidding, and it was frikken awesome.
Oh And they let me hot lap the high banked Auscar tri-oval in the rental car. Cool memories.  ;)
Sorry for the side track.

I think this topic is in need of an update.
A brief report from the August Nostalgia meet, I raced my F1 dragbike again at this event with 5 of the 6 runs being in the 11 second barrier which made it the my most successful drag meet on the bike even though I lost all 3 races and my best runs were in qualifying with the best being a 11.261 @ 119.14mph the bike was running faster than it ever has running a PB of 100.04mph @ 1/8 and 120.79mph over the 1/4.

On the 15th and 16th of October we travelled down to Warwick Dragway for Dragfest.
I took my 400F Drag bike down for this event as I hadn't ridden it in over a year. I didn't do too well apart from entertain the crowd with my wheelstand launches.
My brother made the final in street bike with his K2 but broke out handing his opponent on a Vmax the win.

Way to go.  PB's always good. Triple digit mph in 1/8 is good feeling,  so is 120 mph + in 1/4.....now if we could all 60ft like Frank Dragracer. ......, lol, Bill

Thanks Bill,
It was a great feeling running those numbers  ;D and yes getting my 60's down into the 1.5's or better is the next challenge.
