You made a good solid decision based on what was presented to you. You will not go wrong with a titled K3. Congrats...

I would mix up a little more of the magic cocktail of choice and double check that he actually filled those cylinders and not totally take his word for it. Also some of it may have trickled through already and fresh fill will keep a good soak going.

When rocking the bike back and forth, make sure the trans is in 5th gear, as this will give the most mechanical advantage. Also, be aware that when/if the motor breaks free, the acetone and ATF will squirt out of the open spark plug holes; I seem to recall a record distance of about 13 feet. :o You may want to place rags loosely over the plug holes to limit the mess. ;)

I beg to differ.  I hold the record and it is 17 feet!

OK, I knew it was a fair distance, but didn't know you were the record holder, Steve. ;D

Right on.  I'll add some acetone/ATF to the Marvel Mystery this evening when I get off work.  I'd like to see how far it'll jet out, but I think I'm gonna have to cover the plug holes.  Enough oil spewed out of them in the bed of my truck on the way home (100 miles) after I picked the bike up Saturday.  Big mess.  Apologies to those behind me on the highway.

And if worse comes to worse you will end up with what I did on a K4 parts bike. Would not budge at all. Hope yours goes smooth...just be sure to give it a chance and do not rush the process.

Well Lucky, if I can get ahold of a flux capacitor, maybe I'll go back and get the '78.  But for now I've got the '73.

A flux capacitor??? What is that for???

It's for time travel, according to Back to the Future.  It was a dumb joke...  Anyway, the combination of no title and complete basket case was just too off-putting for me.  If I had more experience, maybe I would have taken the plunge.  I do realize that many advancements were made between 73 and 78.  Anyway, I got a good deal on a complete bike, which is what I wanted.
