How much boost does the stock Kawi 750 turbo make? 5-7 PSI? Sorry if it seems like I'm flogging a dead horse. ;)

The ones I've owned have been 8 to 9 psi.

Dave, what do you think the minimum gap should be for 65mm rings with 15 PSI boost? My best guess is .016".

Good guess, .016 is what I would shoot for. On turbo and nitrous engines, I will set the top ring end gaps at .006 per inch of bore.

I'm running the kawi up to 20psi... with the stock pistons.
Got it set at 15psi most of the time, as it's already pretty crazy at that boost level.
Lots of people run 15psi without problems on those pistons. :)

And a lot of people install the forged wiseco 810cc turbo kit after they mess up the stockers.
(with 0.065mm piston to cylinder clearance, not wiseco spec.)

I found out Dynoman has a forged 8.5:1 turbokit for the CB750... flat tops like the crusinimage... but quite expensive.
It will cost me around 675 dollars + another 20% on customs to get them to the Netherlands...800 something..  :( :o
The cruzinimage cast ones are only 150 dollars inc shipping and with nothing extra from customs...

I also didn't want to run the increased bore clearance and oil consumption since I ride the bike a lot...im not racing it... and crusinimage pistons are cheap, so I'm going to give them a second chance.  ;)
Should be fine once it doesnt detonate.  ;D

I'm willing to bet a beer that the kawi had a lot more than 1500 km's on it before you jacked up the boost level, and likely had greater ring gaps than when it left the factory. ;) I like the idea of high power using cheap pistons! ;D

Ok on with the beer then! ;)
I installed new rings and gapped them according to spec.. bought the engine in pieces and completely rebuilded it with new shells and rings and stuff.

Yay.. closing up the engine at the moment. Spend the whole afternoon removing old gasket material, cleaning out 40yr old oil crud and replacing bearings.

Found my old oem pistons... it looks like they also had some detonation issues.  :o piston looks glas beaded and eroded in some spots.

Hmm, new rings in worn bores. Gapped according to spec means less than the .7mm limit? ;D

My Honda is using the stock internal wastegate in the garrett turbo, with a 0.5 bar stock actuator.
I'm using a HDI "ball&spring" boostregulator kit with a 2/3 electronic valve to switch between stock actuator pressure and adjusted pressure.
When on adjusted pressure, when the boost reaches the setting the boost seems to peak slightly around 2psi and then smooth out again.. might need some fine tuning but works ok. (btw..Be carefull with these cheap manual regulators, a lot of them are "bleed off" types and don't work.)

My Kawasaki is using an aftermarket 38mm external wastegate of a Nissan Skyline. These wastegates have two connections, one on the bottom and one on the top. If you leave the top one open it runs on stock spring pressure. I've connected the boost reference line to the bottom one and a pneumatic pressure regulator to the top one, so I can adjust the boost pressure... works very stable, a lot better then the HDI regulator. :)

I need a replacement waistgate for the ATP system
Are you running the ATP on your Kawasaki?
Does the 38mm bolt up or did you have to make
An adapter
Thanks for your time

It's still at the shop were the dyno is
I'll get it home this week and see what's going on
When I turned the screw in I didn't get any boost.
It and the turbo was rebuilt by terry Kizer (mr turbo)
And he said everything was in good shape
So not sure what's going on
Will keep all posted

So I bought this ebc cb750f clutch kit. (Ck1220)
It has 6 normal plates and 2 wide flanged ones with the different profile.
My old clutch had 6 normal ones and 1 wide flanged one...

What should it be? I'm thinking 7 in total and not 8, right?

Got the clutch fitted... seems like the kit had two spiral plates but only 1 was needed. Strange!

Small change of plans... I now have a F2 head for the turbo engine... yay!
-Valves and especially exhaust ports are way bigger.
-Combustion chamber around valves is more free, no deep pockets.
-Stronger valve springs
-And the chamber volume is around 27.5-28cc versus 21cc on the old f1 head!

This brings me to a compression ratio of 8:1.. which is perfect!

Many thanks to Rob/ Voxonda for helping me!  :)

Sounds like an easy solution and an ideal solution with the larger valves.
