One time to start. Two to kill. I wasn't very clear in post 1969 but reworded it.

Took a few glamour shots the other day.

Love how this shot of the knee dent turned out.

The track stand I've used since installing the Motogp pipe is of very poor quality and I just don't trust it. So I bought a new one. I got this one from Cycle Gear. It was listed as normally costing $120 but was on sale for $60 (might be that way every day) and appeared to be very similar to a Pitbull stand. So I figured I'd try it. It's well made and made from much thicker wall tubing than the one I had. The only negative about it is the handle slips out very easily. I took care of that yesterday by drilling it and using M6 fasteners to keep it in place. You can also use it with swing arm or spools so I ordered spools from Woodcraft and installed them yesterday. Here's a few pics. And I must give all credit to member Dave Barbier for this as he used the same stand and similar spools. Thanks for the pics Dave.

The ONLY issue with this stand and running spools on the bike is that the rear wheel is just barely off the ground. It would be nice if it was a few mm's higher but it spins and that's what matters. The last piece of the puzzle before I can ride is that front brake line and that is on the way so hopefully I can get a ride in next weekend if the weather holds.

The Trackside (Cycle Gear) stands are more often on sale than not.  Thank god you did not buy it full price!

As for the tire being just off the ground, there is no real benefit to it being higher.  It only needs to be off the ground so you can clean or remove the wheel, or service the chain.

She's looking great, Chris.

Sorry your Subi is acting up.

I suspected the stand was probably marked that way all the time. If it had been regular price then I would have just spent the extra money and gotten the Pitbull.

And thank you...I figured the wheel was far enough off the ground but wanted to make sure.

AND...yes...I am just not having real good luck with vehicles here lately. I really do like the Outback where I hated the Jeep from day one. On the way home Friday evening, I noticed the oil light was flickering and then on solidly. I immediately pulled over and shut it down and got out the manual. There's an indicator light for low level and one for low pressure and this was indicating a problem with pressure. Just for grins I checked the level and it was fine (oil looked very clean) and no leaks that I could see. Started it back up and it sounded like oil wasn't getting to the top end so I shut it off again and called for a tow.

It went to the dealer (Toyota) that I bought it from and they called yesterday and said it was going to need to go to a Subaru dealer because it was an issue with work that they had previously completed. I asked about this and it sounds like the PO traded it in (either knowing about the issues or not) and the dealer found out that the thing needed head gaskets. I guess it went to Subaru because it had 59,000 miles on it and was still under warranty (to 60). So Subie did head gaskets, timing chain cover, and replaced a bad power steering pump. I already do not trust this Toyota dealer that I bought the extended warranty through. They did some shady stuff when we bought the vehicle and when I spoke to the service advisor and asked how they had arrived at the low pressure being a gasket issue and not something like a sensor or bad pump, etc. and he said because of the codes that were thrown. I asked what codes were thrown and he said he didn't know. Then I told him there weren't any codes thrown at all and he said...there wasn't? So now the thing needs to get towed across town to Subaru but that can't happen until Tuesday some time. I did speak with Subaru and they were great. Heuberger is one of the largest and most well known Subie dealers in the U.S. and they assured me that the parts they used were still under warranty since the repair was just completed not long ago and that if it was an issue with their work that it would be made right.

I'm just sick to my stomach over all this though. We had to go upside down a bit to trade the Jeep and get into another car (wouldn't have really mattered what we got) and I just cannot even consider trading this and doing it all again. I'm hoping this a bit of an isolated incident but I guess I'll know more towards the end of the week because I doubt Subaru will look at it until then.

I (sloppily) updated the squirrel for you... a more appropriate nut.

I'm really thinking of getting some of these made. Small though and maybe placed on the side covers. Thanks Bryan.

Happy to be of assistance  ;D

New front brake line showed up tonight and even though I was wasted from state testing the last two weeks I decided to install it and get the new Nissin MC bled. It took forever but I finally got great lever. I got things all cleaned up and decided to take it for a trip up through town for the first ride since sometime back in June when I threw the cover on it and walked to the beach. No issues starting like I had going on recently. I'm really thinking it was because I got excited to hear the squirrel bark and kept starting it and revving it and then shutting it off. I think I wore the battery down to a point where it was causing the M Lock to shut things down.

I will need to go and tune things again but man did it rip! Never got above 40 but it's a totally different bike even in need of a tune. Obviously, the extra 50cc's helped and the other work did too but I really wonder if the big change is hotter spark at the plugs. I'll pick up some fresh plugs tomorrow or Friday and start in on plug chops.

Each time I have swapped to electronic ignition, my bikes have not only run better but seemingly stronger.

Glad you had an enjoyable ride, Chris.  Well-deserved!

I've had electronic ignition for a few years now. I think the hotter spark is because I've solved that 2+ voltage drop from battery to coils.

And you now have 4 cylinders firing with proper compression, and larger intakes, and a ported head, and a fresh lower end, and no squirrels in the motor. Can't imagine it feels any different at all  ???

Assuming an average horse weights 1,500 lbs and produces 1hp. A 50hp motor would need 75,000 lbs of 'horse'.

Assuming an average Eastern Grey Squirrel weights 1lb, and assuming one pound of squirrel produces as much work as one pound of house, that would require 75,000lbs of squiril or 75,000 average Eastern Grey Squirrels to make 50hp.

You are looking at thousands of SP (squirrel power) with your build. congrats!

Disclaimer: none of that is accurate.

Hahahaha!!! You guys are ridiculous. I completely respect that some don't want to clutter up their threads with shenanigans but I actually prefer it because this is precisely the kind of SS that makes this fun. Thanks fellas. I really needed it today. I just found out that it looks like something grenaded inside my Subaru motor that I've owned/driven for a week and a half now. Motor appears to be worthless now. Things are a mess and I'm not at all certain what the outcome will be. Heather just left two scathing messages with people we've been dealing with. I cannot confirm or deny if I submissively urinated.

In motorcycle related news...I did pick up 2 sets of fresh plugs and came home and did an idle chop. It was 2 minutes long with choke totally open. Carb guts are 105/38 with screws out 1 and 3/4. Afterwards I pulled the plugs and took a look. I won't even bother posting pics. Look at a brand new plug. That's how all 4 looked. I then went 3/4 out on all screws and did it again. Brand new. Then 1/2 turn out and half choke and finally had a hint of color on 1 and 2 but still way lean. For four years I have needed smaller jets and MORE air. Now I need less air and more fuel. What a difference a good motor and electrics makes. Tomorrow night or Saturday I will do a main chop and see what that looks like so I can just order idles and mains together if necessary. Thinking 42 idles right now though. And I'm for sure getting squirrel stickers made up now. Maybe half dollar size and put them in one corner of the side covers? Anyone know of a good place that can make them?

Sorry to hear about your Subi.  Do yourself a favor and buy a Toyota.   We've had three 4Runners and all were great vehicles.

42 idle jets arrived from Jets R Us two days ago and I got them installed and did another idle chop. With the air screws out one turn I was standing in line for a gluten free beer and corn dog at the ball park. Had to make a few small adjustments but 1-3 look very nice. Plug 4 looks lean and wet so I've got a bit more to do but man am I close. I am using Dyna DW200 wires and the boots that come with them so I use resistor plugs (D7EA though). I have NGK caps on the way and non resistor plugs. We're getting snow tonight but I hope to do another idle chop tomorrow with plug wires 1 and 4 swapped to see if the issue moves to cylinder 1. However...I was able to get something else done tonight.

I'm thinking a custom gauge face from Speedhut.com with the SquirrelMoto logo as the backdrop.
