Here's one example, there are others. Usually, they involve some sort of hook function.

We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

What I dont like about most seal pullers, is they twist the seal to one side, which is not helping the bore.. has to be easier to pull relatively straight than forcing it at an angle. I use 2 screws 180 deg apart.

I learned this doing the thiunwall Kayaba fork legs, very easy to crack them pulling the seals.

I'm thinking of a dental pick as a seal removal tool, right?
It's what I use on a seal like this.

I was using a dental pick on mine but it wouldnt budge. Handy for getting between the seal and the casings however to kind of free it up. However as Frank mentioned maybe I was grabbing too close to the middle of the seal and not on its outer edges - 180 apart with two screws or whatever. Its a very tight space in there.

i know this is years after the post but may help future readers.

I HAD THE SAME ISSUE OF LEAKING OIL FROM THIS SPOT. i bought the sprocket seal gasket and took the chain and the sprocket off. i found that it was actually leaking from the chain oiler adjuster which is that nut and bolt that is in the sprocket.

when you look at the pictures above you see inside their are threads. and a hole on the top . oil fills inside of that passage and lubes up the chain. a bad inner seal can leak a #$%*load of oil all over your floor.

what i did to fix.

1. TAKE CHAIN OFF
2. TAKE SPROCKET OFF
3. TAKE SOCKET AND REMOVE THE CHAIN OILER NUT
4 GET A RAG AND SPRAY THAT AREA WITH BREAK CLEANER TO REMOVE GREASE ( CLEAN IT ALL UP)
5. FIND YOUR SELF A M6 SCREW I THINK ITS M6 BUT REMOVE THE SEAL ADJUSTER FROM THE NUT YOU UNBOLTED.
6. USE THE SCREW AND PUT SOME HIGH TEMP RTV AROUND THE THREADS AND SCREW INTO THE NUT.
7. THAN ONCE THE INSIDE OF THE SPROCKET SHAFT IS CLEAN. FILL THAT HOLE DAMN THING WITH RTV
8. PUT IT ALL BACK TOGETHER

9. SAVES YOU THE HASSLE OF REPLACING THAT SPROCKET SEAL. IVE SANDBLASTED THOSE SEALS BEFORE.... AND THEY HAVENT LEAKED. + THAT SEAL IS JUST A COVER, IT DOESNT HOLD BACK PRESSURE. THEIR IS A ROLLER BEARING BEHIND IT.

HOPE THIS HELPS FUTURE RIDERS

Thanks for posting. Believe me it wasn't the chain oiler leaking - I have that plugged permanently. In my case it was definitely the seal and once it was replaced no more oily back wheel. And the second time I did it used a drift to get it in straight - that's the trick!

Cheers
Andy
