member on here christo just bought new jt sprockets and an rk chain for his 550,the retailer we use didnt have the rear sprocket so chris got it from the uk,it came quickly and is stamped with the little sunburst logo and part number and in a jt sealed plastic bag its the real thing, the front one he picked up from our retailer just had "17"stamped into it and i thought thats odd,i emailed jt and was told it was unlikely to be a jt sprocket, chris contacted the retailer who contacted his distributor who told us that jt sometimes through lack of supply will out source these sprockets but are made to the same specs etc but lack the logo etc,we emailed jt again who told us this isnt so,it should be logoed and packaged etc,its not the retailer but his supplier,be sure you get the goods you order.
after googling around and coming across other forums with posts about jt sprockets not lasting etc i wonder if they had the real thing or not,its not a fake as its not stamped, just the old bait and switch crap, one thread showed photos of a quickly worn out "jt" sprocket,a few posts later and he finds out it has some other logo on it and is not a jt sprocket but his invoice shows a jt sprocket sale,#$%* like that #$%*s me.
