Tach Seal Leaking 78 CB750F
« on: October 03, 2013, 06:39:43 PM »
So I installed a new tach seal awhile back, and finally took the bike out for a ride and it's still leaking.  Is the seal monodirectional ie could I have put it in backwards?  Thier pretty cheap so I was going to put another one in but didn't want to repeat the mistake.  If anybody has any ideas I'd appreciate hearing them.

Yes it is directional. When you buy another seal, people use seals from the 1980 DOHC as they are thicker.

Thanks Bobby I couldn't remember and putting it in backwards seemed the most likely culprit.  Good tip on the 80 DOHC will give that one a shot.

Assuming you are talking about the seal in the valve cover, did you get it seated /bottomed out correctly?
