78 Rear MC rebuild kits why no pusher? 78 79 same banjo bolts?
« on: October 06, 2013, 08:44:54 AM »
I need to rebuild the rear master cylinder on a project 78 CB750F and all of the rebuild kits I find do not come with the pusher rod.  The part I am talking about is the part that has the washer you can't take off and the round head that pushes the piston in.   Kit Part #45530-410-305 or after market #KL32-4267.  Are there any other kits I could use that just have a longer push rod that could be shortened?  Are the M/C bore sizes different on the 75-76 CB750Fs?  Second question...are the banjo bolts the same size on a 79-81 as on the 77-78 Fs?  I found some brake lines for the 79-81 F that I would like to buy but I just wanted to make sure they both use the same size banjo bolt.  Thanks for all the help.  I am just trying to stock up on project parts before the snow starts to fly:)

Blackhole, member Sixthewisconsin(not sure on exact spelling?) has a thread going on this very topic.  It seems he has successfully used a rebuild kit for a goldwing.  The internals appear to be the same.  Also, I have discovered that a '78 goldwing master bolts in place and functions on a '78 cb750f.  I bought a working one off ebay because it was much cheaper than a cb750f rear master.  The goldwing master does not have the remote reservoir and you will need a line adapter and 90 degree fitting, which I got from Slingshot Cycles.
If it works good, it looks good...

I did see his thread but his is for a 75 750F and that has a different part # then the 77-78 750F.  I just want to make sure that one bore is not bigger or the piston longer in the M/Cs.  Does anyone know if they are the same parts and if so why the different #s.  I just want to make sure when I get this thing back together that it will stop like it should.  Thats always a good thing.  On the other question... you are saying that I can use 79 lines on a 78...the banjo will fit in the fitting?  Thanks

75-76 do not have remote reservoir, 77-78 do...thus, probably, the different part numbers
If it works good, it looks good...

Many Honda parts interchange even though they have different part numbers.

Always keep that in mind.

Thanks guys.  I will buy the rebuild for the GL 1000 and go ahead and order the brake lines.

Measure your banjo bolt, chances are it is the same as regular CB, M10x1.25 - they are available from many stores.
