Now if someone will come up with a small tank to use instead of the real tank
and hold a quart or so of gas to use during tuneups..and be safe.........

Here is what I rigged up as an auxiliary tank. It started life as a coolant overflow reservoir. No shut-off, I just drain it into the lawnmower fuel can when finished.

Good set-up Bob!  ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Bob,

That looks like a great idea for an "aux" tank. I was looking for something
that had a cap at the top and an opening at the bottom.  Is the plastic
material it is made of safe from gas attack?

It seems to be. Before making it, I put some in it over night and set it in a pan and found no change or softening. Also, fuel is never in there for more than, say 30 min. at a time anyway. I picked up some two part, threaded fittings at the hardware store. Bored holes in the bottle just slightly smaller than the fittings, put some JB weld around the hole (make sure you don't miss any spots), both inside and out, then screwed the two halves of the fitting together tightly and let it cure for a couple of days. Seems to work fine.. so far.
