STATOR ROTOR REPLACEMENT

Hello folks! I would be the new guy on the blockĀ  ;D
I have a 1982 cb650sc and it looks like ill be changing the rotor on this bugger
do you need a puller of any type to do this or is there a trick too this task?
any help or ideas would be a plus in my book also i found a rebuilt for 145.00 could they come any cheaper?

Yeah, eBay is probably your best bet. The 650s from 79 to 82 all use the same rotor. I believe '79 to 82 750s use that rotor as well. Basically if it's a Honda rotor with "slip rings" it'll work. Just make sure the resistance is around 6 ohms.

you don't need a special puller to remove the rotor on a 650. the rotor has a thread in the middle and you can use your rear wheel axle, just put the bike in gear and screw the axle in and the rotor should pop off.

ok hope we are talking about the same bit here, the rotor is on the end of the crankshaft. if your bike is together put it in 1st gear and screw your rear axle into the rotor(same thread) mine came out without much drama. I think the shaft is a taper so once you pop it all is sweet.

Rear axle trick doesnt work with All bikes as there are only 2 axle threads but 4 different rotor threads (depending on model--all in same model will be same)
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Remember "Its always in the last place you look" COURSE IT IS YOU STOP LOOKIN THEN!
