I heard he was the first big star to flee to the middle east to end his days, like Michael Jackson did, and the whole death thing was just to be sure that he had royalties coming in.

The thing I could never understand is why he has one of the biggest fan bases in the UK, and yet he never performed there. Can't say I was ever a fan myself; more of a Beatles kinda guy.

A quote from the movie Men in Black
Jay: You do know Elvis is dead, right?
Kay: No, Elvis is not dead. He just went home.

One of the best lines in the film.

I was never a fan, but a fellow I grew up with, well his wife was. She was forcing him to
take her to the Elvis Concert Scheduled next  in Fayetteville NC. Then as he told her,
ha! he up and died on you :)
