CB750 F Oil Tank Info...
« on: August 22, 2006, 07:43:28 AM »

Could one of you gents take a walk out to the garage (or kitchen - anywhere your CB750F is) and measure the distance between the three mounting points (center to center)  on the oil tank?

I need the measurements to see if one will fit my frame.

If you read any of my other posts, you know that I am trying to avoid having to weld new tabs on my newly powder coated frame to get an oil tank to fit.

I am not near anyone with one of these that I know.

I have always believed that I had a K frame but now I am not so sure. In fact the more I work on this giant jigsaw puzzle, the less sure I am about anything.

I sincerely appreciate the help and PM me if you want me to call you.

Johnny

Johnny -  from a 78F3 -  255mm (10 1/16") between the top two holes, centre to centre. The bottom hole flange is not on the same plane as the tops so these measures are more difficult to read accurately but from the top left hole to the bottom hole is 213mm  (8 1/2")  and from the top right hole to the bottom is 240mm (9 1/2")

Thanks upperlake04.

Good info. Definitely not even close to my frame.

So I guess I do have a 'K'. Just one that no oil tank on the planet seems to fit.

Next step is to bust out the grinder and welder and either fabricate new tabs on the frame or weld new tabs on the tank.

Ack. I was so hoping not to have to do that.

Thanks again.

BTW, these are my dimensions on the frame.
