We made it out there. We were parked right next to VJMC table, right next to the Honda 90 touring edition and CA 95 Honda. I did not really meet anyone except for a man named Lon, he was also riding a cb650c just like my own. Sorry I did not get a chance to meet up with anyone but my son was so geeked about all the bikes that were there that he wanted to look at all of them at least 15 times.
I saw some really neat stuff, like the three Honda CBX 6 cylinder Super Sports parked right next to each other, in mint shape mind you. I saw some real nice bikes of all makes and models. I was quite impressed by all the different types of bikes that were present. I was kinda hanging out near the British bike congregation as I also own a 1971 BSA 650 Thunderbolt. I kinda wish that the old Thunderbolt was ready to ride as it would have been the only one there. I took the old BSA to the Blessing of the Bikes one year and out of the thousands of bikes there it was the only one of its kind. Of course the zoom splats were a big hit with my son, he also liked the older nice looking bikes though. I found the zoom splats to be very boring as they had almost no originality. The zoom splats are missing one thing that other types of bikes have and that is individuality. All I can say is it was a great time and I relished every moment that I got to look at some damm nice bikes of all shapes and sizes. Did you guys see the old simplex machine. That simplex machine was super cool, and super old, no more than a bike with a small single cylinder motor. Clearly it represented to me the beginning of the motorcycle as we know it. I even saw the simplex being ridden around there at the meet. COOL.
Thanks to Chris for suggesting the drive out M-21 to get there. That was almost the longest trip I have taken on a 30 year old bike. We made it there and back without any trouble at all, not even a hiccup. I am sitting here today knowing that I love my SOHC4 even more now. I got 24 pictures, but they are on a regular camera. I will develop them and scan them, then I will post them.
Most of all though this opportunity gave me and my son some great time with each other. I hope for him it was the stuff that he will remember for a life time. It sure was for me.
Thanks guys/gals for a great time in Holly Michigan. I would do it again in a minute.
