I'm also here in Michigan, Eastpointe to be exact.

I am a SOHC fool, I eat sleep and breathe these awesome motors. Take a look at rouxballs, I recently set him up with that bike and brought it back to life after it had been sitting outside for far too long.

I personally ride a..... gasp.....1970 Amen Savior chop/bobber but don't hold that against me! I put plenty of miles on it last summer, rode in North Carolina, Ohio at least 4 times, Flint, Cass city...... I try to ride as much as possible although it isn't always easy because I have a young family to take care of.

Hope to meet and ride with some of you guys soon. Take care. ;D

Welcome to the group. Er, you forgot to upload a picture of your bike though.  ;)
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Whoa Man! I was just going to start dissing your bike (AMEN, you know...) until I looked at the engine! Pretty cool! You can ride with us anytime! Of course, you may want to check out what some of the SOHCers are doing with Cafe's!
Now, about that Amen guy...Billy Lane hasn't been too popular around here since "the troubles", but I found myself cheering for him...that AMEN guy! What a paranoid freak! He isn't faithful, he's afraid!

Okay, I just read almost this whole thread since I discovered it about an hour ago. Awesome!

I'm way the hell up here in Sault Ste. Marie so I'd really have trailer my way to your vicinity but it would be The Bomb to ride with a bunch of SOHCERS from Michigan.  I understand I have a fellow yooper in Marquette.

I picked up a 78 750 K8 from my neighbor, the second owner and have been doing all kinds of necessary and unnecessary wrenching on it for the last couple of months. Can't wait to get it on the road for the first time this spring.

I'd like to volunter my services on the logo mods if you still need it. I slave away in front of a hot Mac for Sault Printing Co. here in town and I'd be happy to help in any way I can in supplying  artwork files etc.  Been doing that kind of thing for almost 15 years so I know a thing or two.

I'm gonna email my contact info to you Chris for the mailing list.

I got time and distance against me up here. But who knows? I might be able to join you all some time.

Hey Fuzzball...I got your email. Welcome aboard! You're the second new SOHC4/MI today! Really, if you've got a trailer, it would be great! Next July is the big meet in Wauseon. You could trailer to the detroit area, leave it with the Motown boys, and ride the rest of the way! Or, someday, I'm going to ride up there...you never know!
I think Chris Morgan or Jonesy were hot on the Logo end.

This thread is a particularly hot spot here on sohc4, eh?  I've been around this site for a while and I'm still learning what's available here and today I just stumbled on this thread and how cool is this? Michigan----who knew? Well done guys.  It's amazing what can be started with a simple question like Who's in Michigan? Well done Chris.

Has anybody but me checked out this book?
Motorcycling Across Michigan by William Murphy
http://www.arbutuspress.com/mam.html

I met Bill at the swap meet in Birch Run this fall. Great guy. Bought a signed copy for my wife (honest it was for her  ;)---she rides a 250 Rebel)
The book is a really good resource for any ride planning.

So I've been here in the Sault for about 20 years but I spent the first 16 years of my life in Saginaw,  lived in Holt (south of Lansing) for a while. Used to drive to my girlfriends house on Ann Arbor Tr. near Northville I believe. I've been to Hell (and back, and to Paradise, Michigan too for that matter) Great back roads. I've got family in Grand Rapids and know that town pretty well too. So I feel like I'm connected with you guys "down below".

Cheers, eh?

Hey man, not really sure if you know it or not but that new AMEN guy is not the same AMEN (AMerican ENgineering) that built these frames back in the early seventies.

I do love the cafe's and dig the Tracy bodies, I have a bike thats been modified somewhat cafe style too. Carpy also builds some nice stuff.

And I don't mind riding with a bunch rockers either.

Hey Fuzzball, I've got family scattered across the U.P. my mom went to Cedarville High just south of you and I had an Uncle that lived in The Soo for a few years. I usually still go to the Soo once a year, eaten at Antlers, drank at the Savoy, swam in the pool at Lake Superior College. I've even been to that fine establishment across the river at the foot of the bridge. Also worked in Barbeau for a couple weeks. Great grandparents owned "The Maples" sawmill north of Hessel and I still hunt by Grass Lake every other year or so it seems.

I was thinking about riding my bike up there this year for the family reunion.

I consider myself a transplanted yooper at heart. Maybe we can ride someday up there.

You are indeed a yooper at heart.
Been to Cedarville umpteen times, latest to the wooden boat show in Hessel on my erstwhile 82 Honda Silverwing last summer.
Antlers, yah you betcha, a ring-a-ding-ding! My kid works there right now busing tables.
We do print jobs on occasion for the Maples Sawmill.
Used to play at the Landing in Barbeau in several different bands. I think it burnt a while ago though.  :'(
Sfar as that establishment across the river, yah, been there a few times too---my wife doesn't care where I get my appetite as long as I eat at home. right, eh? So shall we cross that bridge when we come to it? I'm game! Let me know if you ride on up here for your reunion, eh?
Have I missed anything. Oh yeah, I swam in that pool too. Ever swim in the big lake? brrrrrr!
Drank at the Savoy latest last October.
Ever drank at the Bomb Shelter? There's a UP experience!  ;D
Been great hearing from someone who's been here and done this! If you come up we shall at least run the Curley Lewis Highway and on up into Paradise. Yee hah!
Cheers and triple cheers!

No, I did not know that...it's definately the new guy I object to..that guy's a rolling path of self destruction!
If you're interested in Cafe's, Check out Pro Teal (there are sme images on the "2007 Calandar" thread) or some of the others...occasionally Carpy comes on the forum too!

One of my business partners showed up Thursday afternoon with a big Grin on his face. He went home and got his bike...shortly thereafter, it started just pouring! I laughed my ass off!

Yeah, I looked into that. His last blog entry was around the same time. He used to be around quite a bit. Just kinda worried about him as it sounded like things weren't going too good..

<edit> He's fine.. Talked to him this evening. Sounds like a mild case of "Forum Fatigue".
