Yeah...I don't think we should alter the actual logo too much though...it's pretty well branded...of course, with Michigan below, it kind of looks like a "Future Farmers of America" logo...let's see what other people say...

ok, so same as above--except with rounded corners--with RIDERS CLUB on the left and MICHIGAN on the right.  same basic logo as the site, but modified for local "riders clubs."  then other states/cities/whatever could do the same.

1. Dig the idea, guys, dig the layout. Patch, sticker, shirt, whatever it is, I'd definitely be interested.

2. Cool two-wheeled stuff seen on the street today in SF (I'd say the neighborhoods, but I have no clue since I'm not from here; was just aimlessly driving around looking at cars and bikes after lunch):

-beater 400F w/oxidized red tank, tank stripe, Avon Roadrunner rear/Metzeler something front, cool welded clip-ons that weren't really clip-ons (just bars that were at the same level and angle but mounted in the stock clamp), pod filters, no clocks, no warning lights, polished upper clamp

-ratty CB550, in that funky orange, appeared stock, no clocks

-World's Nicest CB750 (not sure of year or K-number), shiny as hell, sitting parked on the street downtown

-a damn nice BMW R90S in my buddy's kitchen

-Don't know what it was exactly, but I was walking down the street yesterday afternoon, and heard that familiar SOHC top-end clatter, and turned around and saw a 500/550 hauling ass up the hill behind me.

I wanna live somewhere where it's bike weather all the time and stuff doesn't rust, dammit...

found that last night and sent him a PM, though he's probably not paying much attention to it with the site having been down and all.

thanks for the info.

ok, got the reply from glen, and the patches are cool with him, so lets get some designs:

Chris,

I don't have a problem with personal use of the logo or small batch runs of patches, shirts, etc and there is no license fee issue.

If there is anything I'd ask in return, it would be a donation of the image file (without the Michigan part) if you end up getting something professionally done.  I've been working on an update to the logo, but I'm not specifically skilled at graphics arts and it is proving terribly slow going.

Glenn

surprised he got back so fast with all going on today.

He sent me a PM asking where I got my avatar. I just made it on my own. Maybe use it in some sort? (For ideas?)

I am mostly an "I got five minutes, let me take a ride" kind of guy :-[ but I am interested in finding faces to match with names and avatars. 8)  Seems like I work longer hours now that I am retired. ;D ;D  I will be watching the site for a locked in date and time.  I live in the Albion Michigan area.

Great feedback on the logo Chris. How about if you spearhead that?
I'm going to try to keep this thread going at least through at least this week, then I'll compile it and send the list to everybody. The idea is that if you have an event or want to meet up and ride with people in a certain area, we can email people directly on the list without tying up the site or taking the chance that the person you want to reach isn't logging on.
IF YOU WANT TO BE ON THE LIST, SEND ME AN EMAIL AT ces@greenfrogphoto.com AND I'LL PUT YOU ON THE LIST. MAKE SURE YOU PUT WHERE YOU ARE IN THE STATE, SO OTHERS WILL KNOW. As I said, I'll be sending out the compiled list in a week or so. Quite a few haven't said where they are, so please let me know.
Glenn Stauffer said that he would email all the members in the state (117), so hopefully we should have a good group!

Hey Michigan riders, I had couple of nice weekend rides: 100 dry miles on Saturday, 170 sunny ones on

Monday. Monday was the " just keep on riding" day, best of the year. Had to stop at at Meridian Rd

because if I went past I'd just keep on to Lake Michigan.

Can't make the 17th, maybe good for 24th and/or Holly.

Pictures! I love it! Dirt roads...you're brave Kevin! You should have kept riding Monday! You could have stopped in here!
I wish I'd had a camera yesterday...My business partner and riding buddy Jeff and I had the opportunity to go to a Photoshop seminar in Lansing yesterday. He was a little tepid until I said "We could ride"...then he was all for it! A midweek ride would be fun!
So, when we got up yesterday AM, it was foggy...when we left GR, there was .25 mi visibility! We went anyway...by the time we got to about Lowell, the sun was out and we were on our way..that ride was uneventful and pleasant...what a great way to wake up on a weekday...we were in our seminar until 4:00 and prepared to head home...this is when it got interesting...For some reason, we always get lost in Lansing..I think it's in some vortex where the poles change! Anyway, eventually, we found our way and were just getting going, when Jeffs headlight started flickering..we stopped...loose fuse, and back on the road...then we looked West...a storm about 5 miles wide ahead! So we headed North, and north, and north...ended up in Westfalia, where we finally headed back west...we were on wet roads, but by the time we hit Saranac, they were drying out, and the sun was out..there's a beautiful curvey road from Saranac to Lowell, and another from Lowell to Ada, and Knapp St. brought us home...We finally got in at about 7:30...I was exausted, but almost 200 miles on a weekday was a treat...but...I drove my car today...I hurt..I guess it was all that clenching on wet pavement!
The really cool thing was the curvies...I've been working on counter steering...I've ridden since I was 11, but never conciously done it..how many people have really worked on it? I'm finding that it makes curves much more controlled and comfortable..

I'm in Hastings - kinda near GR.

My CB750 is my first bike... but I've been on dirtbikes, quads, jetskiis, etc. before so picking it up wasn't really that hard. Riding on the road is still kinda a weird feeling, but after only a couple weeks or so I'm starting to get used to it.

One of my friends whose been riding since high school (not that long ago, I'm 23) told me about countersteering, so I've been doing it. I figured that it would be good to make myself do it while learning because then it'd come natural eventually. I've only been doing it for about a week but I already find myself doing it without even thinking during cornering. :)

I read about countersteering before I started riding. After I got comfortable riding on public roads I started experimenting with it. It's really easy. I can't convince my buddies, who've been riding for years, to try it. They just don't get it.

BTW, I'm not in Michigan. Sorry.  :D

It's a great Museum even without bikes...It's right along M-43 just north of the lake. I think the bike meet was in June this year. Kalamazo's a great town! I lived there on and off for 15 years.

I almost attended this year.  :(  We were on our way, just west of Vermontville, when one of the guys blew a rear tire on his Concours.  By the time we got the bike back to Haslett it was too late to attempt to ride to Gilmore.  So, we made a quick run to the Zuchey (sp?) Lake Tavern for a burger and pop.  Overall it was a good day but we were dissapointed that we couldn't make the show & museum.  I have a feeling I'll miss next year's show since I'll be out of the country from May 31 through June 9 attending the Isle of Man TT.   ;D  But if it's the weekend after I get back, I'll be there.  BTW, my buddies rear blowout was caused by a 2" by 1/2" shard of steel he picked up somewhere along the way (but probably not too far from where it went flat).
