Who's in Michigan?
« on: August 22, 2006, 01:53:56 PM »
A few of us have been PMing this afternoon, and the thought came up of putting together a Fall meet/ride in Central or eastern Michigan (wherever there are more people). Of course, I'd really  like West Mi. but I don't know if there's anybody else over here. Also, If anyone has any ideas, that would be great too.
Reply here, and any interested people who would like to put together a loose Michigan group to do stuff with, send me a PM. I want to collect contact info so we can get out activity info.

Any sunny Saturday might find me running out to Mason. Lots of decent roads between Ann Arbor, Jackson, Stockbridge. Some of the organized Metro Detroit rides go to Hell -

 http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?searchtype=address&country=US&addtohistory=&searchtab=home&formtype=address&popflag=0&latitude=&longitude=&name=&phone=&level=&cat=&address=&city=hell+&state=mi&zipcode=

- but I think Patterson Lake road is a little rough.

Hey Morgan - try Hines Drive to 7 mile road to get out of town.

Ann Arbor here. I agree, almost any direction except east of here has some nice roads. Locally, one of my favorites is Huron River Dr. between Ann Arbor and Dexter. Only 8-10 mile stretch of a narrow two lane, but nice curves, runs along the river. Best not done on weekends though if you want to "stretch"  ;) the 35 mph speed limit, too many cars and bicyclers
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

I heard a story from a Ninja rider about timed runs at 3am on Huron River drive. He does track time these days.

Not for me - The road is so nice I find myself pulling over for people in a hurry.

Hey Hines Drive is in my backyard... take that sometimes  on my way out to Ann Arbor.
It's amazing the abundance of Hardly's rollin' up that road.

I ride everywhere from AA to the east side of Detroit.

7 days a week.

Gutsy if he is doing it in the summer months. With the trees and underbrush in full foliage, it's impossible to see around curves, it's dark, oh, and there are likely a ton of deer along there at night. He may be living on borrowed time.

Hey guys I'm from Toledo.  Detroit/Ann Arbor is'nt too far away, just give me a time and a place, I'll cruise.
I've been looking for similar bikes to ride with.  Right now I roll with a Busa and a Gixxer and a CBR.
Let me know.

Everybody send me an email (using the email icon on my string) so I have everybody's email addresses (at this point, I have Bob Wesner and Chris Morgan). I'll compile them, and we can all set up mailing lists. That'll make it easier to set up activities.
Bruce, I'm in GR, where are you?

In Ann Arbor. Just picked up a decent 400F, and just got my bike permit again after years of being a non-rider. (Rode in college—a CB360T—but haven't since.) I'd definitely be up for rides, beer, hangouts, and whatnot...

I think the more the better...my regular riding buddy's both have shadows, and I also have a friend with a VTX....of course all Hondas, but we'll be the real stars...What would be most cool would be to ride down to Wauseon, OH next July for the big Antique meet...we could all just show up..a bunch of old Hondas! Two years ago, the AMCA (Antique Motorcycle Club of America http://www.antiquemotorcycle.org/FlashFrDr/NewFrpage/fr_door.html ) Installed the CB750 (starting with '69, they have to be 35 years old) as a full Antique and able to compete in judging. This year, the theme was "4 Cylinder"...I don't show but a friend brought his emaculate 1940 Indian 4 up from W.VA.
Does anybody have ideas of good rides and available dates> If we're going to get together this fall, we've got to get hopping! All next week is the VJMC nationals in Cadillac...I know, it's on the wext side of the state!....
Don't forget to get your email address to me. So far, I only have 5 of you... We can conspire all winter too!
