It was June 11 this year. We also went to Vintage racing @ Grattan the following week.
Part of the reason I wanted to see who was in Michigan was that Bob was @ Gilmore, and so was I, but we never linked up! I would have been fun to meet up...

Zukey Lake Tavern, nice place, right on the shores of, er, Zukey Lake.  ;D

That's the one!  ;D  They have a nice patio on the roof of the original tavern that overlooks the lake.  And, the Tavern Burger with roasted potatoes is excellent.  ;)

Countersteering fascinated me back in high school physics when we learned the effects of a lateral force on a gyroscope.  I've been countersteering for twenty years now, though I can't say I'm conscious of it :-)    It does making riding more fun, in my opinion.... like an art.

An interesting thing about my '75 550, though... when I got it a few months ago, I found it harder to maneuver than other bikes I've owned.  Perhaps the rake, center of gravity, so forth....then I discovered by shifting my body weight to one cheek or another the bike turned by mental telepathy, or so it seemed.  It responds extraordinarily well to weight shifting--a completely new personality of this bike!

I'm really enjoying counter steering. It's makes corners feel much more controlled...I think I'll start another string to see how many people do it.
Oh, I don't know if it's something unique to CB's, but we call it "Steering with your butt"...That's how i've been steering for a while, but that's different than counter steering.

Actually, we've all been doing it since we were kids on our bicycles. A bit detailed, but thought this might be interesting.

Not sure you are a member we ran into each other at the Shell station this morning on South Main St. in Ann Arbor. I was on a K0, you were on a K2 and we briefly exchanged conv. about the great weather and how the old girls are fun to ride, we never did exchange names. Actually, you are the first SOHC4 I've encountered around Ann Arbor in a long time. Are you a member?

Don't know who it was, but I saw someone in Ann Arbor making a right off of Maiden—onto Fuller—last night at about 9:30-ish (not sure about the time?)...looked like a golden-colored 500 or 550 with clip-ons on it...I was on a black 400F, jeans/black Schott jacket, white full-face Bell, heading north on Fuller.

Yep, totally random comment...just prompted by Bob's Ann Arbor comment. Reminded me...

Well, hell, we oughta have an Ann Arbor hang-out some night in the next 'couple of weeks. Anyone game? Maybe make sense before the Michigan SOHC ride?

I'm gone this weekend, but here Monday...and then gone Tuesday through Friday...somebody toss out a date and a time. Game for anything.

(Don't end up riding through downtown a lot as, even though I work there, I can't park a bike at work...and the mirrors on the bike kinda suck (lame excuse, I know)...so I don't end up there much. Keep the bike over off of Plymouth, so I usually just jet out towards N. Territorial and get the hell out of town.)

Huero, I think I've seen you riding past my window at work on a semi-regular basis. I'm in the Champion House building on Liberty/4th, second floor...window faces Liberty across from the Gulko Jeweler thing...cool-lookin' bike, if so...

Weird how I am not bumping into any of you dudes, you must never ride through downtown

Not if I can help it, particularly now that U of M is back in session. Way too many cell phones, pedestrians and bicyclers who have little recognition of the rest of the world. Like Hootle, I'm three minutes away from all sorts of nice rural roads, but more to the west.

But you forget I'm a GHOF.  ;D

Hey Guys,
After all my talk, my fall is filling up fast...My x (believe it or not) has volunteered me to work at my daughters first Band Competition as a Drum Major...I don't think I can get out of it, so the 23rd is out as well as the 16th. If a date that will work for me comes up, I'll be there! If not, at least you East siders can get together!
At this point, I'm planning to Ride to Wauseon OH in July for the Wauseon Antique Bike meet (Toledo/East Michigan Boys, we can pick you up on the way)..and the Indian 4 Club has a meet at Tiffin Oh. two weeks later, and I'm told they like ANY 4 cylinder/older Bike..I Am also going to the Meet at the Gilmore Car Museum near Kalamazoo, and we could even put together a group to go to Vintage Bike racing @ Grattan Raceway, also in the summer...
Anyway, I'm still looking for more email addresses. I plan to compile the mailing list early next week.

Chris -family comes first...so thanks for all the work you've done so far. The Oct 1 SOHC/4 gathering at the Holly, MI "Rally in Battle Alley” is on - I plan to be there, barring rain. I believe Jonesy has stated he intends to go.  The VJMC calendar states, "The Holly, MI Chamber of Commerce is hosting their fall “Rally in Battle Alley” vintage bike display. The streets in their downtown district will be closed to traffic, just the two or three wheeled motorbikes are allowed in. The VJMC will have a designated area for club members to display their bike(s) of choice. All VJMC members are encouraged to ride (or trailer) out and enjoy a wonderful display of Vintage motorcycles."
I have emailed the Holly CC to confirm the event - it wasn't on their calendar - and I will post the response as soon as they reply.

Anyway, I'm still looking for more email addresses. I plan to compile the mailing list early next week.

Please do -- a Michigan SOHC/4 group could add some fun to everyones '07 summer...and beyond.

Awwww, Man.... I was really hoping you'd be able to come up this year, Bob!

..I'll drag the camera along. Come to think of it, I should get a group shot of all the SOHC-4 guys that make the trip.  ;D

Geez, how much more is left to do with the basement? You've been at it all summer, must be quite an undertaking (Of course, I've never seen the basement of your house, so I have no idea of the project scale.)

Getting close. The room itself is pretty much done. Waiting to meet with carpet installers today and I'm now working my way out and up the stairs. I will be glad when it is done to say the least.

Do you have a display pedestal in the center for the CB? ;D ;D ;D

It would certainly make a great conversation piece. Or maybe just a set of carbs, disassembled, in a glass case? ;D ;D ;D

BTW, has anybody seen the MC display at Hockeytown Cafe?
Lotsa nice Brit bikes and Harleys, but sadly, I didn't see any Hondas. :(
