Dude, I have no idea. I think rain got in my bike, and it dried out a little today in the warm afternoon.

Anybody's guess as to if it's gonna start sunday, I think it will though. Hootie & me should be riding up there.

i think he's going to beat you over the head with a tire-iron bent to look like an "L"

hyped for tomorrow.

Just changed the oil and filter, checked the air pressures, greased the swingarm, and checked to make sure all the nuts and bolts were still tight. Just for you guys I also pulled all the silver duct tape off my seat and replaced it with black duct tape. I am waiting until I can find an ebay seat or get it recovered.
The weather is supposed to be pretty good for Sunday. I hope it stays that way. Nice to hear you got your bike going again El Huero Loco, are you still going to Holly now?
Barring any major problems I will see you guys there. My wife did not want to go, so I am bringing my 6'4'', size 13 shoe wearing, all the time eating, 15 year old son with me. I do not know where he got that from because I am only 5'7'' tall. He is also pretty damm smart, he wants to be a mechanical engineer later in life.
Take care and see you there.

what sort of bike are you looking for a seat for?
i have my stock 400 seat, minus the mounting hardware, with a new replacement cover.  not OS, no hinge or lock, but looks pretty good.

So we'll have to figure out somewhere else to meet. See the notice from Scott Timoff (Local VJMC rep):

"...Sorry for the short notice. Crashed on my CL350 while trail riding last weekend.
Seperated sholder with other bumps and bruises.  Limited typing ability, first
real attempt today.

Jim Sherman (event organizer) suffered a stroke a few months ago so the Hogs in Mininstry Club are carrying the ball at the moment.  I have been told there will be a designated area strictly for Vintage
Bike parking, so you will see a bit different format from the past.  I will NOT have my usual canopy up as it was stollen earlier this season.  I will be bringing my table, a few chairs, some regalia items, etc.

The weather looks to be clearing for the day.  A bit cooler temps but dry.  I hope to see you there!

Ride on!
Scott Timoff..."

So, It looks like a few things will be different, but the ride is still on!!! See you all there!!

Sorry to hear about your spill and Mr. Shermans stroke. A speedy recovery to you both. Glad the ride is still on as my 15 year old son is looking forward to this as much or more than I am. See ya all there.

Man Kevin, you look enough like me that you could be my brother! Who made it? Did Bruce (from near GR) make it? Full reports! We want more pictures!
As it turned out, the birthday party was packed (so I might not have been noticed if I didn't go, but I got major brownie points just the same.
Huero, get better...I've had a cold for 2 weeks...I just seem to be getting better, then Wham! I'm on my ass again! This weekend, it happened again..achyness, coughing...you know, that "not fresh feeling!"
More pictures!

It looks like Holly was a good ride.  I sure wish I could have done both (Ernie's and Holly).  We had a little band of Honda singles for the ride to Ernie's.  There were two CB100's, two CB125's and one Honda 250.  It was a blast riding down there and we got an awful lot of comments from other riders (not to mention the looks from others along the route).  The round trip mileage was 95 miles and the mpg ranged from a low of 76 mpg to a high of 92 mpg.  Here are a couple of pics from yesterday.  The first is of me (I'm on the left) and my friend Paul standing next to my CB100.  The second is a group shot of the bikes that made the ride (mine is the second from the right) parked out in front of our shop.  Hope everyone else had a good day yesterday.   ;D

I made it up there finally at around 3:30-looked like everyone had cleared out.   I saw cmorgan47 ride in with a couple of other SOHC4's.  I asked the guy on the blue CB750 if he was one of us, and he denied it.  Maybe my "up north" weekend appearance scared him off.

We made it out there. We were parked right next to VJMC table, right next to the Honda 90 touring edition and CA 95 Honda. I did not really meet anyone except for a man named Lon, he was also riding a cb650c just like my own. Sorry I did not get a chance to meet up with anyone but my son was so geeked about all the bikes that were there that he wanted to look at all of them at least 15 times.
I saw some really neat stuff, like the three Honda CBX 6 cylinder Super Sports parked right next to each other, in mint shape mind you. I saw some real nice bikes of all makes and models. I was quite impressed by all the different types of bikes that were present. I was kinda hanging out near the British bike congregation as I also own a 1971 BSA 650 Thunderbolt. I kinda wish that the old Thunderbolt was ready to ride as it would have been the only one there. I took the old BSA to the Blessing of the Bikes one year and out of the thousands of bikes there it was the only one of its kind. Of course the zoom splats were a big hit with my son, he also liked the older nice looking bikes though. I found the zoom splats to be very boring as they had almost no originality. The zoom splats are missing one thing that other types of bikes have and that is individuality. All I can say is it was a great time and I relished every moment that I got to look at some damm nice bikes of all shapes and sizes. Did you guys see the old simplex machine. That simplex machine was super cool, and super old, no more than a bike with a small single cylinder motor. Clearly it represented to me the beginning of the motorcycle as we know it. I even saw the simplex being ridden around there at the meet. COOL.
Thanks to Chris for suggesting the drive out M-21 to get there. That was almost the longest trip I have taken on a 30 year old bike. We made it there and back without any trouble at all, not even a hiccup. I am sitting here today knowing that I love my SOHC4 even more now. I got 24 pictures, but they are on a regular camera. I will develop them and scan them, then I will post them.
Most of all though this opportunity gave me and my son some great time with each other. I hope for him it was the stuff that he will remember for a life time. It sure was for me.
Thanks guys/gals for a great time in Holly Michigan. I would do it again in a minute.
Bruce

John.

he's not, and you don't want him to be....well, he's alright i guess, but his his new nickname is MT.  cause that's what his tank always is.  eMpTy.  on the ride up, i had to pull the tank off my bike and fill him up out of the petcock.....twice.  same thing happened last time i rode with him.  later, at the bar, he said "but i only saw one gas station," we replied "all you need is one."

it would seem so.
those who did make it were apparently scattered as to the time.

still, not bad for a first attempt.

We should still try to get a SOHC meetup in the next couple weeks for those that missed.

I made it out, but parked off in one of the alleys out of sheer not-having-a-clue. Walked around for a bit, talked to a few non-SOHC4-people, and then had some lunch. Didn't see any bikes I recognized, so, (this, in retrospect, wasn't the smartest move), climbed back on the bike and headed home. Ended up being there from 11:45 or so until 2:30.

Double triple plus agreed. Somebody set a time and place...maybe one weeknight at a bar somewhere might be easier than a weekend?

We're in a big state! I think Bruce (Racing33) should get the "Long Distance Award" for riding the farthest! 2.5 hrs one way with a 6'4" 15 year old on the back of a CB650 is no small feat! Too bad he was never able to hook up with anybody! We'll get better at this as we go...I really wish I could have gone, but I still have my sights on activities next summer!

I have plenty more pics to post, just need to shrink 'em and post 'em when I get home (away on business right now).

I thought I had (on the ride up, naturally!) I should have posted a large SOHC4 logo graphic for us to print out. Then, when you get to the meet you slip it under your seat strap (or wedge it between the tank and seat) so the bike is identified as belonging to an SOHC4 member. This should make us easier to identify if a bunch of us are heading to a public meet and we've never met.

[ I still have my sights on activities next summer!

Great idea!  I'm confident it will happen.  Chris...you collected the email list.  A great start.  Come spring 2007 I bet many of us Michigan SOHC4 enthusiasts will be eager to have a gathering.  Be sure to post events everyone.

There were some lessons learned...such as how to identify ourselves as fellow SOHC4ers, time, and so forth.  It can only get better.  But I'm up for the ride (after I adjust those rear shocks....wow these Michigan roads really jolt me on my 550)

me too. Anybody local got the tool to adjust these? I need to do the same, Will buy the tool but don't wanna wait a week to do it

You can use a strap wrench, works great, beats digging into the under-seat tool kit to find the proper tool.. if you have it.
