Hey DJ_AX----
Thanks for asking. Shur did get it going! Saturday morning, 37 degrees. Started up fine---took a while to warm up. No plate or insurance yet, but my road is pretty quiet this time of day so I decided to wing it.
Rechecked the tire pressure. Got on, gunned her a bit---sounds like a freakin ferrari with my MAC exhaust!! Starts to really roar at about 4 grand. Headed out the drive nice and easy, crazy goose bumps, heart pounding, hair standing up . Started slow to check the brakes, wow! takes a big dive when you hit the front brake but stops the bike for sure, Ran it up gently through the gears, taking it easy for the first half mile to the end of the road. Stopped and checked for oil leaks, any new noises. Nope everything A-OK. So I let er rip----ran her up to 80 or so revving each gear right up top. Soooooo Coooooool! I love this bike! I'm like a kid again! Wow!
Ya know, I coulda gone to the bike shop that morning and me and the bank could've ridden outta the parking lot with a brand new VTX1800 or say an ST 1300 and that would've been fine, but I'm certain beyond doubt I wouldn't have had anywhere near the excitement and the deep sense of personal satisfaction I had driving that 30 year CB750 up and down my road for the first time. To have those long hours of wrenching, adjusting, cleaning, researching, taking apart, putting together----to have it finally pay off in that moment was a feeling hard to describe but instensely pleasurable. But I don't need to splain it, right? Cause that's why, gentlemen, we are here and that's why we do what we do.
