side cover emblem clips - where to buy?
« on: August 23, 2006, 11:28:28 AM »
I found a replacement side cover emblem for my 750K0 and need the clips to hold it on. These push onto the studs on the back side. Are they available locally? Hardware store? Auto parts store?

You might find something but you will probably have to stumble upon them.
I used silicon to hold mine on and it has worked so far.

David Silver Spares has them for the 500. I assume they are the same for all the SOHCs, although I couldn't say for sure.

They may be local if you live in England. 8)

I ordered these from my Honda dealer, and they came in a Honda AUTOMOBILE parts bag. It seems Honda cars have the same attachment system on the cars. Try a Honda car dealer

Got mine at a junkyard from the trunk lid emblems on an 80s Accord. Those you can get to from behind.

Autozone had the clips for about 50 cents each.  Just take in a sample size if you have one.  As I remember it is just about the smallest size they had.

You would be better off glueing them .If you put those clips on,you will more than likely break the tabs off the next time you go to remove the emblem(don't ask how I know!!!) Once the tabs are broke off....you have to glue them anyways(or replace them)

That's exactly what happened to me. Removing -very carefully- them before taking the sidecovers to the painter I broke all studs but one. I plan to use doble-side sticky tape on the emblem and/or maybe silicon or heat-gun glue on the stud remains..

The clips for this application with which I'm familiar are nothing more than so-called "speed nuts," available at your local hardware store. They come in different shapes (e.g., rectangular vs. round), diameters and thread pitch.

Easy to install -- just push them on using a pair of needle-nose pliers or a small socket. To remove them, use the pliers and bend them in the opposite direction -- they come right off.

Adhesives are fine, until they don't work any more. There's a reason the factory used a mechanical fastener.

My local Ace Hardware had a selection of Speed Nuts. 19 cents apiece and I'm out the door. I also picked up an assortment of polished stainless steel metric acorn nuts for shock mounts, back side of the instruments, etc. All in all, a very successful trip to the hardware store!
Thanks for the input everyone!
