Got 15 of 'em so far, and if more show up at a good price - yup! While I have 2 1978 F3s and 2 1977 K7s, the bulk are K2s to K5s. And since those are my personal favourite years, its all good! ;D
So yes, the bloody things are addictive.

My name is Nick, pause for response from group, and since we are being formal about all this....

I AM a motorcyclist and have been a classic addict for 5 years.

It started when I dropped by a local Honda dealer and there sitting forlornly on the showroom floor was a complete 1968 (sloper motor) CB175. An estate sale, with the original 1968 licence plate and stickers on it. Complete, but a little rough around the edges. My first ever bike was a '72 CB175 so I whipped out the Visa and he was mine. The addiction took hold and I vowed to do a cosmetic restoration. I discovered the pain of eBay in my search for parts, along with the spending of much money with unreliable overseas suppliers.

Then last year my addiction took total control, for there advertised in the local Buy and Sell was a Norton Commando, one of the bikes of my dreams. I had to have her and so spent the money I had recently acquired from the sale of my VFR800. Sorry dear, the hardwood flooring will have to wait. And we didn't really need the sun deck, did we? Scouring eBay became my passion (scourge) for now I was both Imperial and Metric.

Then a new job came up and I needed something able to handle the long travelling distances involved. Another peruse of the Buy and Sell and two days of legging around the lower mainland and I met Silver Sophie........the rest, for my sins, is history.

Then I discovered this forum and clarity began......this addiction can be controlled; and though I know that I will never be totally free of the passion that is old motorcycles I know I am amongst friends....

Well there is no hope for me I guess.   Dad bought the first (Hey its hereditary!) in 83 then I bought it from him in 84. Always had it running and sometimes up to 3 at once.  Uncle had a 750 in mid 70's.

Hello my name is Chris *pauses for formality*

I have been riding various off road bikes for years since i was about 7 most of the machines being Hondas. First ever bike ridden was an old honda 70cc (not sure of the model but the best way i could describe it from memory is that it looks like a baby version of my Project K4) then it was onto various other bikes then ending off in a 93 Honda CBR 900RR Fireblade that i owned and rode for about two years after buying it at age 15..sold it just after turning 18 after loosing my GF in a drunk driving accident. (she didnt even see that superduty coming before it plowed into her car...the driver of the super duty was drunk)...im 22 now and just getting back into bikes after having ridden my roomates '80 CB650. Which led me to searching for a bike of my own almost bought that 650 but didnt have the money then got talking to a friend of dads and that led me to my K4. Hope to possably own a later CB later on once i get back used to riding.

I think I need to go buy an HD to get over this love affair........LOLOLOLO :P
Actually, don't laugh, besides my addiction (CB550F and CB750K4), the next bike in line to be rebuilt is a '67 HD...That I somewhat inherited, I'll be keeping it per my cousin's instructions as she doesn't know how to wrench and her father would have wanted it to stay in the family, it was his baby, though I doubt that'd be the case if he ever owned a SOHC.

Isn't that pre-AMF involvement with HD? Should be a fun project...and you should be able to get parts for it. Good luck.

I just found out that I'm going to be a Dad (yes, it's my first, that I know of).  The better half was complaining last week that I spend to much time working on my bike.  I think she's just jealous that I spend more money on it then her.  But hey, that's why I'm working two jobs right?  Oh wait....  I mean, I'm working two jobs so that I can support my family :)

way to make human procreation sound like a B horror movie.  this sounds like a new thread if you want peoples advice on how kids affect their motorcycling/old bike buying.   lois takes the anti-baby pills and so far they are 100% so I can't help ya there.

It's going to be interesting.  I should be happy, but I'm worried about how much time this kid is going to take out of my garage time.  Think I have an addiction? lol, back to the threads title.  SOHC4, it's all your fault.  Actually, it's Honda's, not mine.

not still talking about the kid are we?   :P  i think what they are saying is before you know it you'll have someone to get you the right socket out the box.  change the the oil, stuff like that.  good news. fear not.  - it is a boy right?  ;D either way, girls who can work on bikes are way cool, just might have to fight for it.  good luck with this most important and rewarding of endeavors (that i will never do on purpose)

I was a little dissapointed that it won't be a girl, because now I have to purchase a shotgun.  But if she's anything like her mother, then she's going to be riding and wrenching.  Just not on a Harley.  Don't want to confuse the poor thing into thinking all bikes are non-sensical.
