What color was it???
« on: May 20, 2005, 11:54:50 AM »
I've seen list of Honda paint codes on other websites and I know which colors were offered for the different model years, but is there any way to determine what paint color was originally on a CB750? There is no indication of where to find the paint code on the bike, and the tank/sidecovers have been repainted who knows how many times..... Is there a way to find this out? I want to paint my tank and sidecovers factory original, but I don't know what "original" was...

I've heard mention of under the seat etc.  It may be that any sticker with the original factory paint of your bike has long been lost.  Look for a code matching one on the list here:

This should shorten your list of possibilities:

Not even the factory can tell you what colour a bike was originaly, they just dint take any records, so as long as you use one of the colours for the year NOBODY can argue. And it was only after about 85 that code stickers were fitted

OK, that's kinda what I figured. I just thought it would be cool to get it back to factory condition. Thanks for the help!

On my K0, there is overspray on the back of side covers that indicates it, or at least "they" were origianlly the blue/green, one of the original 3 color choices available at the time.

hi, if you are using the original tank to your bike and it has never had a bare metal respray then the original colour will be under there somewhere  :-\ just a thought mick.
