Dope new headlight and some fresh paint bling-
« on: October 04, 2013, 05:38:58 PM »
I love fresh paint. It is so silky smooth and sexy.
Victory Red shot over some metallic silver. Looks solid and eye bleeding bright and in the sun has kind of a candy look to it. The headlight was just scored on sale. Pretty neat huh? Has integrated LED  turn signals in case you missed them  ;D.

Is that the headlight that Carpy sells on his site?  I've been eyeballing those for my build.  How about some real world reviews of it once you've got it wired up and run with it for awhile?

Yep it was from him. Was on sale for 40$ I think. Not bad. I will give a review but mostly I think its just a trick part. Dunno how many people are gonna see it with the headlight on all the time(state law) but LED's are Bright and these are huge so we'll see. Looks better than stalked blinkers on a custom build in my opinion.

That's what I was wondering.  Florida is a "lights on always" state as well, and I want my turn signals to be seen.  I do agree, I like the minimalist, stalk-less look also, but still want to be safe.

That headlight... I can't take it serious. I estimate 20% of the reflector is gone, used for a gadget. Who wants that? It looks cheap.

Those headlights are all over Ebay for the same price and cheaper. If you want your turn signals to be seen I would not rely on one of these. I think it would be confusing seeing your turn signal so close to the headlight. I considered running one of these on my total loss electrical system so my daylight required headlight would be power saving LED's and not he high consumption 100/90H4 bulb needed for night riding. I would use the one that has the full halo and not turn signals. But like others I am waiting for a real world test result to see how they light the road with the possible restriction of the halo. It may not interfere at all.

100/90H4
I wonder why people are impressed by high figures of power... consumption. Watts tell nothing about the quality of the bulb.
Decades ago we had those 100 Watts bulbs on the market. I haven't seen them for a long time. People have learned to distinguish between lumen, lux, candela and... Watts. The latter is just a measurement for consumed power and nothing else. It's quantity mistaken for quality.

Love the paint job looks great!  I was a red tank now.  Only question is where are the matching side covers?

I did the side covers black Chewy
I am painting my seatpan red as well and everything else is getting blacked out. I kinda took the idea from the New FJ cruisers paint schemes.

That was a random internet pic. I drive a first gen carbed dakota longbed. Paid for and can haul any bike with room to spare. Iwould drive classic over modern anyday but I was inspired by the paint scheme. If i never own a newer vehicle so be it, much prefer two wheels anyhow. Also its nice having titles ffor what I own instead of the bank. To many people living outside of there means IMHO .Own your own horse amd feed it and develope a relationship with it,my philosophy.
