Topic: Installed Dyna Coils what did I do wrong

Keep popping the bottom fuse(main?) after installing dyna  5ohm coils. Take a look fellas and tell me what I did wrong. previously had stock coils with dyna S iggy. I tried keeping the exact same orientation that was on the stock coils. Now as soon as I turn the key pop... thought I followed the directions to a T.

OMG... 

You will blow a fuse every time you wire your hot leads to ground. Find the terminal connections on the coils for your yellow/blue (ground) and black/white (hot) leads.

Can you diagram what you wired? Hard to tell what's what from the photos

Two hints: 

1. The steel bar running through the center of the coil is continuous. Just connecting the hot and ground leads to opposite ends does not separate them. 

2. Look for screw terminals on the end of the coil for your hot and ground lead connections...

Orbs does your bike have the 2 bottom frame rails cut off?

You should find TWO screw terminals on the front of the coil. One is for the hot (black w/white stripe), the other is for the ground lead (blue or yellow) from the ignition. Orientation does not matter here, there is no polarity to the coils.

There are no connections to the grounding/mounting bar, although mounting the harness ground (green) at this location should not cause a problem, although the harness ground is typically attached at the coil bracket frame bolt.

That black wire with the white stripe is switched HOT and comes from the kill switch. It connects to the coils. You have it connected to ground! You will pop a fuse everytime.

Not mine ,working on a friends bike(poor fella ), but yes. I have the cycle X weld in kit as well as some "knock off" Gordon style frame kit.  Whoever did it though looks like they used a portasaw and hardly left much more than a half inch maybe at the neck. might have to weld in some donor tube first...

I see what I did clearly now. Boy that's great. I was looking at what the stock coil looked like without thinking . Today was a long day. First hurrah with the dyna coils. Now to find were the juice taps in . You'd think those fine folks at Dyna would include a diagram but no such luck

This might help.
This is the way I connected mine.
Left coil is 1-4 = Blue wire and black wire with white strip
Right coil is 2-3 = yellow wire and black wire with white stripe

DUH-OH! My bad, branden is right... the BLACK/WHITE are HOT. The yellow/blue from the ignition collapses the ground signaling the coils to fire.

while eating crow. I at least knew you couldn't hook ALL the wires to ground!
