Bill, just for rough estimates, I double the dollars and take off maybe 10%.  So, I'm guessing 12K Sterling would be around $20K.   Rather hard to imagine that, though... Depends on who's at the auction.

That would be a little hard to imagine. With my kinda luck, if it oughta be worth something, I'd end up having to pay them. If I was able to come up with buck$ like that, I'd be looking for a something like an old Indian, Vincent or something along that line (in perfect shape of course). Ah, but different strokes for different folks, huh? Oh, and thanks for the approx. conversion info, appreciate it.

If you have a complete classic Japanes bike with all original parts and moderately low mileage you should be able to get pounds for dollars if you could send it to the UK. It's no wonder that pristine collectables fetch such high prices.

Look at the costs that sports mopeds are commanding over there. 3,000 pounds for a moped!!!!

so, yep, i bought the vino.
had to ride it back from the dealer as you need your endorsement to ride anything over 50cc in michigan, and my wife doesn't have hers yet.  even though i was hoping not to get caught tooling around detroit on a mod little scooter, i have to admit, pretty fun.  got up to about 55 and still had a little more to give.
i love babies...
with a nice chianti sauce and a side of fava beans

According to Google:

12 000 British pounds = 22,646.4 U.S. dollars

FYI, You can pretty much do any conversion in Google. In the above instance, I typed in the search box "12000 British Pounds to US Dollars".

Some damn nice bikes you guys are posting up!!!!!

For me, it's gotta be an early 80s CB900F or CB1100F, all built up like this. It's pure sex on 2 wheels.

No doubt about it, that's one mean looking ride you have there. I've always like that look and they are pretty good runners too! Closest I've ever gotten to one of those is my 80' CB750K. It's got the DOHC motor, just doesn't have as good of a look.

That 1100f is real nice indeed.

So, howcome nobody has mentioned a ZZR1400? Great technology, amazing performance. If only the roads were emptier, and speed cameras didn't exist.

Maybe for some of us (like GHOFs like me), a bike which will exceed the national speed limit in first gear is a bit OTT!!!!

+ 1  for Honda 599

IMHO, this is a Supersport resurrection in DOHC era. This will be my second bike. Hopefully, my 78 Supersport last till then and then I could take my time and look why did it consumed two quarts of oil during yesterday's 250 miles ride.  ::)

I like this...
