Greetings everyone,
I have taken an interest in old British bikes for a long time but only recently volunteered to rebuild my neighbours 1978, or thereabouts, CB550. I own 3 Royal Enfields, 1954 Clipper, 1958 Constellation and 2004 Indian Bullet. I hope this doesn’t disqualify me from a Honda forum…… joke….. maybe.
The CB550 rebuild went well, the engine is back in and now onto little things like Carbs. Like others contributing to this forum I found no information concerning PD46A carbs in Clymers or Haynes, so I joined. I will post a carb progress so far message in the relevant section, add to Tech forums/SOHC4 Bikes/topic= 78 550k carb float height and other help dated 15th July 2013.
I work in Angola, 8 weeks here, 4 weeks at home and brought the carbs with me to tinker with.  I have always been confused as to exactly which model the bike is. It was first registered in UK in 1978 and has engine number CB550E- 2027851. It has a plain black tank with no painted panel or pin-striping and has 4 into 1 exhaust.
Regards, Big Al.

Hey Al, I'm guessing you are in the petro business; my brother-in-law works the same sort of schedule in Africa, as well as a couple of SOHC members...
Welcome!!
