Finally hitting hit good!
« on: August 24, 2006, 02:34:34 PM »
Well I have been getting small things finished up on my K8 after a long time in storage. Started getting braver about the throttle. Getting ok at corners now. I have finally started to rev the engine good. Carbs still need the idle mix tuned but I can hit 70 in 3rd easily and not red line at all! I probably hit the 70 in about  200-300 feet distance! I dont know if that is good or what, but it sure feels really good. Of course I can time it, but I think I am doing it in less than 7 seconds.

Until you actually do it, you really dont know how well these things do like to rev!

Been riding this thing all summer and finally would it out some. Freakin great! ;D

I have been getting back into highway riding since my bike is now close to where it should be. I guess you found out the real power band starts around 4K RPM and gets better. Well in high gear 4K is about 70MPH, when I needed to pass someone last night, I cracked it open more that I probably needed and the rate of acceleration really increases dramatically as the tach goes higher. It is a bit startling at first.
