400F valve adjusting tool?
« on: October 08, 2013, 08:15:59 AM »
Tried to adjust the valves on our 400F today and found out that the smallest wrench I have is 4mm.
DSS sells a special tool, but is out of stock.

I tried to measure the head of the adjuster with my calipers and got about 2.7mm.....would a 3mm wrench fit? Does NAPA or Pep Boys or anywhere have any sort of adjusting tool that might work?

What are you guys using to adjust the valves on a 400F?

That's a neat idea if you don't have the correct tool
I see a lot of people making them now you've posted it  8)

Is that a #1 bit on the head of the screw? They have more than one size at Lowe's.

I also use a square head screw, but I threaded it into a Woodford Reserve cork.. The 1.75 liter bottle has a nice size wooden lid for gripping.

Crap. Two sizes to choose from and I picked the wrong one. I hate 50/50 odds.

Those Motion-Pro spanners that Flybox linked are truly the cat's ass. I didn't know luxury until I picked a set of those up.

You can get them a lot cheaper from amazon. Same tool set, much lower price.

You can also use the head of a suitable split pin.
