Questions, questions, and more questions biz etiquette 101
« on: August 25, 2006, 10:26:17 AM »
I was thinking this through carefully as I vented the front rotor on Home Wrecker this morning. The more I thought about it, the more it bugged me.

In recent days I have noticed a few things in the café market. Almost hostility if you will. While I have not been doing this for a long time at all I do have ideas that will open new doors in café that have not been touched yet.

I have seen stuff like “those new guys can go blow a monkey”. Maybe I am too thin skinned. I don’t think so. I want anything I do to be responsible and professional. Was thinking of getting a video camera, a leaf blower, and a stuffed monkey :P This is from a guy who inspired me.  ???

There is also an overwhelming jab that my gauge faces are not as good because I am not from the old school 59 out of London. WTF! Mine are made of the same material as the others if not better. Building café racers take more than a Limey accent. This is not a dig at Limey’s at all.

We have plans next year to take all the café’s we build this year to Deals Gap to brand them “Dragon Slayers”. Some of the bikes will probably not make the grade, but most will. Plus we intend to include the dyno sheet for the bike when we sell them and certify them to 150 MPH (150 PROOF).

If my head starts to inflate after stardom (if it ever comes) someone come kick my ass please.

Do what you do. If peopel give constructive criticism, use it to your advantage. If people just give you plain ol' criticism, ignore them. That's what I do.
No.

Build good parts, bikes, or whatever you want to sell and people will buy them.  Price stuff reasonably and stand behind it.  Cafes are soon headed down the chopper highway to hell.  How many fly by night outfits are selling "olskool chopper" parts on ebay?  In the next year, the same will happen with cafes.  You seem genuinely concerned about your business' reputation, and that already puts you head and shoulders above most other outfits.  I would say keep busting ass doing what you're doing and the recognition will come.  Find your niche in the market and everything will fall into place.

I'll give you a jump on the next hot trend in cafe racers...forget hiding the electrics under the seat hump...

HAHAHAHAHAH Couging HAHAHA now that is good.

Was just thinking...(yes I do that from time to time).... If copying is the first form of complement, the name calling must be the second?  ;D

Yes I do believe the cafe will take that same road to hell. I only hope we survive it. That is why I will never stop sell parts on eBay as long as they will have me. When I started this I was a junk yard dog. Now I still am, just the bikes are cooler. When the bike go to the way side I will still be that junkyard dog. ??? I think...

Why NOW for the Cafe craze though?

I mean I've only been into these bikes a year or so, but I've been into bikes and cafes longer than that.  I enjoy being on the forefront of a trend and all, but JUST as I'm about to build, the prices are going to go insane.

goddammit... >:(
