« on: October 10, 2013, 05:28:41 AM »
Looking for photos, for inspiration purposes, of single-seat CB750s particularly interested in seeing a single-seat setup on a CB750 with a K8 tank but anything is good really.

thanks for any help,

Sorry to hijack for a moment, but how would you possibly shift that bike? Right hand pulls clutch. Left hand reaches across and down to shift? Seems like a bit PITA!

Am seeing the foot shift and hand clutch on the left bar..
Do you mean on swingarm stock frames, or rigid frames as well?

cult seat for a CB750!
http://www.wemoto.com/parts/picture/VE-SEATCB750FOUR-RACER/

Nice, but not really a single seat. Besides, the Giuliari only fits up to K6. The K7/K8 have the hinges on the opposite side. That is why I ended up with mine from Gaman (extremely rare)--the only company that offered them at the time (also Italian).

This one fits the K7/K8, but isn't really a single seat either:

Is yours a K8 or do you only have a K7/K8 tank on another model? There are a lot more bolt-on selections for the earlier models.

I'm having trouble pulling a pic but a guy on here did a 750 kinda british styling. Triumph style lettering on the tank. It was white.

He cut the back half off of a king and queen seat, looked much more polished than it sounds

The Yellow bike is mine, "Tin Lizzie". It has the "Triple A" floorboard kit that were for the Honda's. It's a standard "Heel / Toe" shifter with linkage. Standard left hand clutch.

Thanks Wobbly I should have been more specific. I have a K4 (CB750 1974) and will fit a K8 tank to it and have a seat custom made to fit. So the hinges will be on the right side. Currently having a seat pan modified to be reupholsterd to a double seat (stock-like) but am also considering a solo seat. Here are the requirements:
1. Solo seat but seating area is level with the stock seat strap/oil tank cap (I am a tall guy)
2. Solo seat should be same height as stock seat
3. Space behind the seat would be for a storage box (sort of like the CB750 police bikes).

Reason for all this? Making my CB750 into a long distance tourer - so 5-gallon tank, comfy seat (but stylish like the original), luggage space at rear of seat and I have a side pannier frame for hard bags or soft bags. So one option is the Police CB750 seat at the moment.

thanks for all the pics so far - very helpful!

Btw the solo seat on my K2 (shown in avatar photo) is a Gaman replica of a Guillairi
cheers

I thought I remembered it being posted on this forum. Nice job, I liked it so well that the picture I posted was one that I had saved to my computer.  8)

The Yellow bike is mine, "Tin Lizzie". It has the "Triple A" floorboard kit that were for the Honda's. It's a standard "Heel / Toe" shifter with linkage. Standard left hand clutch.
Was that bike at Sturgis? A friend sent me a pic of one from there. Looked like yours.

The white bike with Norton style lettering is a 400-4.
I think Momo,s..has a cut down double butt bucket touring seat.

Reason for all this? Making my CB750 into a long distance tourer - so 5-gallon tank, comfy seat (but stylish like the original), luggage space at rear of seat and I have a side pannier frame for hard bags or soft bags. So one option is the Police CB750 seat at the moment.

I do not find the comfortable looking seats very comfortable on long rides. I would sometimes ride my Honda 24 hours in a row with the sport seat on. This is by far more comfortable than 12 hours with the stock seat. With my weight (powerlifter with over 250 lbs and 6’2), I simply sit through the puffy seats and sink in. After a few days, my thighs would be bruised and discolored from sitting. I never had the problem with the Gaman sport seat. And because it is square rather than round (like Giuliari), I could use the back part for additional luggage (gasoline canister for instance). I have to get my slides scanned so I can post them. But when I crossed the Sahara Desert with my Honda and my wife as a passenger, I did so with sport seat and clamp-on handlebars. In combination with my 45l tank bag, the low bars would allow me to rest my upper body comfortably on the tank bag.  I currently use my S1000RR exclusively for long-distance touring (if it is not in the shop with a broken cam) and, on travel days, drive 12-17 hours a day without a problem, passing BMW GS bikes that are hauled down south on trailers. Low bars and sport seat works great for me. On the other hand, heated, comfortable touring seats and tall windshields cannot change the disadvantage of being a pussy. But that’s another story. Anyway, keep your current seat available whatever you decide to do.

Got it. On first glance I thought the floorboard support was a lever attached to the shifter. Very cool bike.

Wobbly, I agree totally.. Too many bikes out there look like 2wheel cars.. Just get on a lotta bikes and just plain ride them. My R100RT. An 81.. A thousand mile day, or more was easy.. Now park it beside a Gold Wing..it will look like it should do 2 thousand miles a day.. Yet many of them think 800 is a lot..

For what it's worth Andy I recently put the stock seat back on my 77k and I forgot how cush it really is, the wife and I did an all day ride on our bikes and my ass wasn't sore at all at the end of the day. I put it back on to add a couple more layers of foam and recover the seat I built for it two years ago but it's so bloody comfy I think I might just leave it on permanently.

Take a look then. Frank was right about it being a smaller bike but it is still our generation SOHC4, pretty damn similar looking
