Reason for all this? Making my CB750 into a long distance tourer - so 5-gallon tank, comfy seat (but stylish like the original), luggage space at rear of seat and I have a side pannier frame for hard bags or soft bags. So one option is the Police CB750 seat at the moment.
I do not find the comfortable looking seats very comfortable on long rides. I would sometimes ride my Honda 24 hours in a row with the sport seat on. This is by far more comfortable than 12 hours with the stock seat. With my weight (powerlifter with over 250 lbs and 6’2), I simply sit through the puffy seats and sink in. After a few days, my thighs would be bruised and discolored from sitting. I never had the problem with the Gaman sport seat. And because it is square rather than round (like Giuliari), I could use the back part for additional luggage (gasoline canister for instance). I have to get my slides scanned so I can post them. But when I crossed the Sahara Desert with my Honda and my wife as a passenger, I did so with sport seat and clamp-on handlebars. In combination with my 45l tank bag, the low bars would allow me to rest my upper body comfortably on the tank bag. I currently use my S1000RR exclusively for long-distance touring (if it is not in the shop with a broken cam) and, on travel days, drive 12-17 hours a day without a problem, passing BMW GS bikes that are hauled down south on trailers. Low bars and sport seat works great for me. On the other hand, heated, comfortable touring seats and tall windshields cannot change the disadvantage of being a pussy. But that’s another story. Anyway, keep your current seat available whatever you decide to do.
