Dad's 73 CB500F build

Im starting this thread  for dad's cb build. ill have a separate one for me and my build because im going a different direction with mine



So this is the platform for his build. a solid 73 cb350 with 2500 miles i found on CL for 1700 from the original owner. he got a 71 cb500f for his first bike for graduation in '71 but never had much money to do anything to it as it was transportation and not a toy. Mom and i got him this for his 60th birthday in august to do with it as he pleases, as he now has the time and money to do whatever he wants to it. We're selling the stock parts that he is upgrading or removing that i dont use on my build.

we have already bought these things...
-Avon Roadrider tires
-Emgo chrome headlight bucket
-Dyna S electronic ignition and 3 ohm coils
-Mac 4 into 1 black exhaust
-Emgo pod filters
-Drag bars
-CBR600 F2 clutch perch and master cylinder with shorty adjustable levers
-New Cables, rubber grommets, and gaskets
-K&L carb rebuilds and an SCI CB500F Main jet kit
-Colored transparent fuel line
-Ballistic Lithium ion battery
-Race tech fork springs and new seals
-Extra tank to modify
-New gold 530 chain
-Bar end mirrors


getting...
-Stainless bolt kit
-Rearsets
-Fiberglass seat
-Maybe some new rear shocks
-Few other odds and ends

He is leaving the engine completely alone, de-tabbing the frame and smoothing the welds, removing the sidecovers, altering the tank and fenders, polishing EVERYTHING, fiberglass tail section and cleaning out the area under the seat.

I am confused, 350F or 500K (there isn't a 500F). Maybe the pictures clear it up, but they are blocked here at my office, so I won't see them until I am on my home computer tonight.

F for FOUR instead of the 500T. im new to the 500's. ive been raised on the 350Fs. just assumed it was the same. i guess the f was only used to denote the supersport for the 550.

No, the 350 is kind of the oddball nomenclature wise. Generally in the SOHC world, F = Super Sport with a 4-1 exhaust. The one exception is the 350.

The 500 fours are all K models with 4-4 exhaust.

The 400's are all F's with 4-1 exhaust.

The 750 comes in K models (4-4) and F models (4-1, rear disk brake, slightly different frame, and triple disks in the last year). The 550 also comes in K (4-4) and F (4-1).

The 650 has several models with varying seats, forks, wheels, mufflers etc.
