+1, +1, +1 on stock airbox
« on: October 12, 2013, 01:30:58 PM »
I just got back from my first ride after putting my stock airbox back on and ditching the pods.  I got my motorcycle back!  A couple years back I dropped the chain on my 76 CB750F and punched through the crankcase.  While swapping in a new engine, I put on pod filters, which, to my shame, I mostly wanted for looks.  Since it was a new engine, I couldn't be sure why I didn't have good idle or top end power.  I still had the stock exhaust, which I think is one of the better looking stock honda exhausts.  Anyway, I messed around with jetting a little, never got it right.  Put on the stock air box and it's like having a new motorcycle.  FS, one set of K&N pods.  Cheap.

Yep, you can spend a lot of time and money trying to make pods work, or you can just stick with the OEM airbox. My engine is a "hot rod", but I still run the stock airbox, it just works. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Good for you, I love the stock airbox. I don't even find it hard to remove anymore haha.

What I also like is that it also holds my carbs up with soft new carb rubbers, I don't like the (quite heavy) carb assembly suspended from just the intake rubbers. ;D
