Gaskets
« on: October 11, 2013, 12:08:40 AM »
It's about that time for me to be purchasing a gasket kit for my 77K engine and I just wanted some recommendations on what brand I should get and what experiences people have had with them.

I'm steering towards the Cycle X GASKET kit($250) since I've had a couple recommend it but its just so much more than a lot of other kits I've seen. I can get a complete kit from CMS after shipping from Europe for $108. Do some its not come with all the o-rings and rubbers?

I don't want to sacrifice quality and wind up with leaks all over my nice clean engine but if I don't have to spend the extra $100+ I'd gladly put that toward some other part of my bike. Or a beer. 8)

Recommendations?

I have the same engine and just bought the KP gasket set from CMS. It says it fits CB750F/F1/F2 but should be fine for the K7/K8. It looks complete to me. It's made in Japan which was the reason I bought it. But I will need two more months before I can leave any feedback.

I sometimes buy one of the cheaper kits, but ditch the head gasket for OEM. Often works out more cost-effective that way.

I am using the NE brand gasket kit. Had all the seals, gaskets, rubber pucks, orings

55$, it is fitting well. I have a big bore kit so IDK about the head gasket. I use copperkote anyway

Yeah, my breather gasket seemed a bit skimpy. I know it will be torture if I ever go back in to my engine but I shellac the paper/composite gaskets, substitute undersized orings (love harbor freight) and use the brand SEAL ALL in the machine groove for orings for the real hard to locate oring type gaskets

I let it set up in the groove, under where the oring would reside and then reuse the oring. Use it on a buddies bike plenty of times for external stuff

i omit the giant pan o ring, fill the cleaned groove evenly with quaility silcone gasket maker proud of the surface, let it cure 45 mins then assemble, never a leak,it all comes apart clean later on if you want, breather covers ive done the same.
