Hello from Newfoundland
« on: October 13, 2013, 11:56:12 AM »
I have been looking forward to joining this forum for awhile but my '76 cb750k6 was on the back burner. I got this bike from my buddy after I tuned up and installed a set of Dyna coils on his 1100 spectra. Good deal for me. The bike is complete no real title.

I have been looking for a sohc 750 for a long time, but I found a '79 cb750K for my first bike. I quickly learned how fussy the dohc's are and how lack of maintenance, from the PO, that might not bother other bikes kills these. I joined the 750 custom and cb1100f sites and dove into gathering parts for a 810cc and 985cc at the same time not knowing which I would finish first. Before that I tried running a cb900 crank with 750 dohc rods but ran into clearance issues that stopped the process for now...

During that process I was without a scoot and a '80 cb750c, a solid runner, came up so I grabbed that and is my current scoot. That now sits with the 810cc.

I am a engine builder on the automotive side but I build bikes as my therapy. Here is the mods for my 810cc build:

Performance mods:
 -810cc
 -750 head pocket ported
 -900 cams
 -Dyna 2000
-Cr 31’s
 -relay mod
 -custom exhaust

 Other mods:
 -900F transmission
 -modified clutch stack
 -modified clutch pusher
 -shifter mod
 -900 oil pressure spring/shimmed
 -modified oil screen
 -cam chain oil spray mod
 -oil pressure gauge

Well that was a round about way of getting back to the sohc. I plan on building a stroker for the '76 sohc. I have the  cb900 crank and shot peened 900 rods with cb1100 rod bolts (that's the real trick for those rods). That setup was for my 985cc and expected it to do well there so I expect the same in this setup and I already have it.

I am only now starting to research the sohc cam stuff so I'll be asking lots of questions. This bike will be drag only vintage class, slick, bars whatever it needs. Reliable over all, I can get crazy with it if I need to after. Cheers all great site.

Looking forward to watching your builds. Welcome to SOHC4 insanity.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)
