What is your secret? I never see cleaning products in the pics.  I've been using Gunk Engine cleaner..

Nice looking bike and great work as always...
The man knows how to clean up and deal with dirt and grease and gunk. Helps he's got a good example from a dry area.
I am going to scare you some time soon with a photo or two of tools I dragged out of storage that had been in Ohio and TN in an open tool box that weren't clean for several years...

Actually I use the common stuff. Same as you guys. Simple green and hot water in a spray bottle on this one. Nylon brushes and a little scraping with a small screw driver.

This bike cleaned up nicely and like David said, a well kept example. The Dream on the other hand was in fact a nightmare to clean. About one month of cleaning but the transmission seal had leaked for who knows how long.

Pictures don't do it justice. It's a lot cleaner looking than in the pictures.

Today was a fiddle day. I mostly cleaned parts, assembling a few things.

A little tap work to clean up threads and put the bolts/washers/nuts where they belong.



I managed one cover coat of paint on the sprocket cover before running out. Two (2) cans on the way.



Order from David Silver came yesterday.  ;D

New OEM rims and aftermarket spokes.  8) Honda was $2.15 a spoke times 72. Decided to spend the extra on DID rims instead.



Thought I better get the last  OEM headlight ring he had.  ;)



And for $7.50 a OEM fuel tank cap.  8)



Tomorrow I need to clean up the wiring around the battery area. When you see electrical tape it's time to change things.  :D

Not much this morning. Quite honestly, I'm tired. Neglecting other things I should be doing.  ::)

I did straighten out this wiring mess underneath the electrical tape.



Sometimes you just don't have enough factory wire to solder with. I cleaned up the ends and used a Posi Lock connection. These work great in this case. Never found them locally so I order online and buy a bunch of them.

Thanks Larry.

Basically cleaning parts now as I am waiting on other things. I wanted to test fit the tool box and make sure the wiring harness was correctly routed. I was "bery..bery.. careful using the metal bands as I did not want them to break.  ;)



Did some polishing and mounted the coil.



And it's looking better each day.

This morning I did a little work on the front end. Wanted to clean up the lever perches and controls.

Actually they were not to bad. Ran a tap into the threads.



Polished up nicely. New hardware on hand when the time comes.



Starting on the headlight area now then onto the rear wheel.



Not sure what to do here. The spare bike has a better looking brake plate.

Yesterday the Shop was tied up most of the day. I was in need of a new garage door and opener with Home Link function. Went with a 2 inch double sided insulated door.









Morning shot.



Cleaned the rear wheel and was surprised just how well it cleaned up.  8)



Going to leave this finish alone.





But I do have a question for you folks that have laced a wheel. There is an A spoke and a B spoke. Which goes outside? I can figure it out probably but going to attempt a wheel lace myself. Have no way to true it however.

I think the B spoke is usually the inside (may have it backwards...and the outer spoke has more curve or angle to the spoke...not near the bike to see...) (closest to hub center) spoke as the angle on the head has to be more pronounced to align on the same axis as the outer spokes. The head angle and shape is different to bring it to the similar plane that the A spoke falls on...
Lacing a wheel is best done with lots of patience and take lots of photos taking it apart as well can help when you go to reassemble...

The spokes that are all the same just don't work for these bikes, as they put the spoke in too much tension and you end up with broken spokes. Good you got what looks like a good set. Compare to old spokes and they should be identical where threading starts as well as bends, etc., etc.

Purty bike you got TT (or is it HT now?) but, you always make'm look purty!

rt. set goes over and left under, most likely a cross two pattern.  Take your time, relacing isn't rocket science stuff...Larry

Nice. The ones that have the eye end bent more go from the center of the hub out.  They go in last. From the outside in go in first. Happy lacing

I've been sitting here while watching this rebuild and it suddenly occurred to me: will a CB160 actually run WITHOUT electrical tape somewhere on the harness? I don't seem to remember one that way... :D

Yesterday was hang around the house day as a new shed was being installed. I need room for these bikes.  ::)  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

The Evapo-rust did a fantastic job cleaning the inside of the tank. Around a two (2) week soak.



I carefully removed the petcock for cleaning and rebuild. The seal between the tank and petcock is no longer available so easy does it was the key. I'll use a little sealer when installing.



The inside of the tank looked just like the mounting screws.



A little polish and a OEM cap with cork seal. Found it at David Silver for $7.50.  8)



And mounted out of the way to prevent any damage.

Honda sells the cork seal. $1.78. This was the entire cap and seal. I should of bought all he had. Next order I will. Did get the last OEM headlight ring for $20.00.  ;)

Just like the box of baffles. I bought 6 of them.  :P
