I do!  But only because that kz was my buddy's favorite bike.  I thought it was a spoiler.

Yes that cooler was able to "evacuate heat"  :o. Compare that to the RC51 rads....two extremes.

The RC51 rads are perfect for cooking your legs. The work much better after slight mods.

A public thank you to Cal.  He diagnosed for me a quirk with the m-unit that was making me insane.  It works flawlessly now.  He ain't a bad guy, really.   ;)

Yes. It has Ohlins rear suspension, braided steel Goodrich brake lines, Bremo 19RCS radial master cylinder, Leo Vince pipes, CF rear hugger, Scott's steering damper, PC, etc. not shown in the picture. It is a torque beast.

Close to start up.  Everything that needs to be in place, is in place for the engine start and break in . . . except the exhaust.  The Kerker does not fit.  When I dry fit, I did not have the oil filter housing on the bike.  I only checked for head fitment and frame tuck.  It interferes with the oil filter and it's too much to try to heat bend it.

The only replacement exhaust I could find and be quickly delivered is a black paint Mac 4-1 (most of the vendors were sold out) and the place I got it from only had one left.  So I will slap that on for now to fire up the engine (fingers crossed), then cut off the can for a 12" shorty Cone.  I will most likely have my buddy to fabricate a custom exhaust as he did for the 750 Blaster, but I don't want to wait another 4 to 6 weeks for start up.

This thread is far from over because I'm sure there will be additional issues along the way, like jetting, timing, tuning, etc etc.

Also, I am using the Venhill 888 throttle and 2 "hubs" came with it.  One has a faster action that the other.  No directions came with the Venhill so I am not sure which one to use of which direction the hub fits on the slotted bar tube.  I just randomly chose one and installed it.  Any pics would be helpful.

Thanks... it's been frustrating, and a labor of love, but I think that's why we appreciate these bikes so much when they are finally finished.  Yes, Cal...I know, they are never really finished.

Cheers, everyone.

Could it be....?

Was hoping to finish in February - AFTER SohRon.  But wait, if I cut off the can then it's not 'technically' finished until the Cone arrives, right?

According to BOTM rules, it has to be a running bike, so I think you are still safe from SohRon.

Kudos to SohRon in any event.  A masterful job at restoration with meticulous attention to detail.  He should get BOTY 2015 just for the documentation of his build.

I wonder if a spin on/off filter adapter(check out Cycle X http://www.cyclexchange.net/500-550-Hi-Perf.htm) is small enough to avoid interference issues.

I have a couple spares from the Blaster build.  I thought it might clear, but no such luck.  I had to drain the oil to try it.  Still about 1/2" more needed.

Sure...Frankenpipes.  Too impatient at this point.  At least the Mac headers will be ok with a Cone muffler til my guy can fabricate a ceramic coated 4-2-1 like the Blaster.  And I can access the oil filter for the first oil change.

Also with the Mac I have to use the OEM header collars and shims which I don't much care for.  Glad I kept them.

You're giving me welding credit?  Definitely not quicker.  It means lugging the bike off to a welding shop to insure that the patchwork fits, then getting the Kerkers recoated.  I can always hang the Kerkers on the shop wall as a reminder to verify first, then trust.  Or I can point to them and say "I upgraded for more HP."  ;)  I can't obviously sell them now, so might as well make it a conversation piece.

I got the Venhill throttle rotor sorted...the oval hole goes toward the rear, the round hole is positioned forward.  The 90 degree throw is the rotor with the slightly shorter crown for the cable terminals.  At first, I thought they were identical since no paperwork came with mine.  Couldn't figure out why I would need a spare.

I will solder the carb end terminals this Friday using a small solder pot and propane torch (iron pipe end fitting as the kettle).

Those will do in the interim, but pick up a set of TTR400's anodized alloy exhaust collars. Lighter & cooler than those big lunkers!  ;) Kevin will be home from his rideabout sometime in the future.

Oh man you must grit your teeth every time someone like me makes a dumb comment like that.....sorry dude.
