Forget all the junk science and read this book.  While it does not mention Sasquatch it will give you a good understanding of why Sasquatch never existed except in the imagination of an 11 year old boy.

Science, folklore, or childish imagination ... I know where I come down.

It's a real good read...I had a hard time putting it down.

Over the past 180 years scientists have discovered evidence that at least twenty-seven species of humans evolved on planet Earth. What enabled us to survive when all the others were shown the evolutionary door? Chip Walter tells the intriguing tale of how against all odds and despite nature's capricious ways we stand here today, the planet's most dominant species. Drawing on a wide variety of scientific disciplines, he reveals how a rare evolutionary phenomenon led to the uniquely long childhoods that make us so resourceful and emotionally complex. Walter explains how the evolution of our highly social nature has shaped our moral (and immoral) behavior. He also plumbs the roots of our creativity and investigates why we became self-aware in ways that no other animal is.

Along the way, Last Ape Standing profiles the mysterious "others" who evolved with us - the Neanderthals of Europe, the "hobbits" of Indonesia, the Denisovans of Siberia, and the recently discovered Red Deer Cave people of China, who died off just as we stood on the brink of civilization eleven thousand years ago. Last Ape Standing is evocative science writing at its best - a witty, engaging and accessible story that explores the evolutionary events that molded us into the remarkably unique creatures we are.

I can't speak to ex wives since I still have the original one. ;D ;D ;D

I have never had a Bigfoot sighting but in some places it is not very uncommon. I have seen Coyotes, Bears, Bobcats and I think a Moose.

There is a group that claims to have done DNA sequencing. Junk Science or real, I have no idea.

http://sasquatchgenomeproject.org/

Thanks for the link..it was good for a few laughs.  This was especially funny. ;D

Quote from the website.

The Sasquatch people are more like us than they are different. The Sasquatch people have their own language, traditions, and rituals. They live in family units, they order their lives according to the laws of their people, and they bury their dead.

Yet the Sasquatch people are captivating because of their physical, genetic, and cultural differences. Sadly, these special traits also make them uniquely vulnerable to those who would see in their unusual lifestyle or appearance a justification to harrass, trap, or even kill them.

My Son and I were out to sight in a new rifle, and we saw a Mountain Lion, not a big deal but we were in Central Ohio ! where there arent supposed to be Cougars, or Mountain Lions... We were leary of telling anyone, but told my brother in law thinking he would laugh at us, but he said other people in the area have also saw it.  Some people belive us some didnt, you can tell, but we both know what we saw, it was plain as day. So i know how someone would feel seeing bigfoot. After seeing a freaking mountain lion i think it is a possiblity. I have lived in Ohio for 48 years and been in the woods all my life and never saw anything like that before or after that day, but I am very alert everytime i hunt in that area.

I saw Sasquatch once, swear to God.  If it wasn't a Sasquatch I don't know what the hell it was.  Around 8 years ago I was driving on a pretty remote Northern Ontario highway, and as I crested a hill I spotted this huge man-like creature on the side of the road about a half mile up.  I wasn't close enough to see any details, but it was brown and big.  it turned to look at me as I headed toward it and calmly stepped over the guardrail and walked into the bush.  I slowed down as I went past the spot and there was no trace that anything had been there just a moment before.

I hadn't seen a car in ages, and there were no side roads along that stretch of highway for miles. Its nothing but bush, bush, and more bush in that area for miles and miles. I know it sounds crazy, and my buddies have a good laugh at me when I tell this story, but what can I say? I saw what I saw.  Kind of gave me the willies for sure. Maybe it was just the ass-end of a moose?

PS. No, I wasn't high.  ;D

There are a lot of these people that have permits to run 'shelters' for exotic cats. As a matter of fact, wasn't it in Ohio in the last five years or so that one of them turned all his cats loose and then committed suicide? A few miles down the road from my mothers farm in Southern IL. was one such compound where the state police had to be called a few years back because one of his lions got loose. Also, down the road from where I used to live in Brazil, IN., was an exotic cat rescue that one of the cats got loose from. It was never recaptured!  The point is, they're out there and there's more than you know.

That was in Zanesville Ohio yes.  The guy set free about 100 exotic animals i think and then shot himself.  The sherriffs dept. went out there and gunned most of them down, a very sad ending...  there were lion, tiger, bear, monkeys, you name it.

They killed a few pumas up north of Kansas City up in Platte County the last few years.
The wildlife people said the animals were probably following rail line ROW so it is possible you saw a puma.

We are remarkably unique in that, we, The "Last Ape Standing" are stone cold killers that have weaponized practically every thing we have developed. Chances are we killed off some of our competition since we were blessed with the ability to kill for gain. We may have been smarter than the rest, but we tend to use that intellect in the most ruthless manner.

If Bigfoot did indeed exist, he would be a far more noble creature.

If Bigfoot did indeed exist, he would be a far more noble creature.

In the book he reduces the evolutionary calender to a single year.  Homo Sapiens show up on December 27th.  By then only a few others are left but nearing the end of their run.  Rather than exterminating Neanderthals new evidence suggests that some interbreeding occurred and the Neanderthals were absorbed into our species.  Many people of European and Asian descent will show 1-4% Neanderthal DNA.  Other theories are they were out competed for resources or a violent extermination, maybe a combination of all three.  The calender shows somethings else to ponder.  Many of these early humans species lasted from 500,000 to 1.5 million years...we have been around for no more than 200,000.  We have not yet proved our staying power over the long run.

As for Sasquatch, the whole thing is so ridiculous as to be almost beyond laughable.  Where did it come from?  The is NO evidence of a large primate species native to the Americas (there are a few small primates native to South and Central America).  The first large primates in the Americas were modern Humans, little different than you or I, that arrived 15,000 years ago.  The Sasquatch Genome site suggests that modern humans in North America mated with an "unknown primate" about 13,000 years ago.

since this is jamesb's thread maybe it's up to him to solve this.  I suggest he mate with one of the South American native primates "bang the monkey" so to speak and if a Sasquatch like offspring is born we will have our answer.  ;D  And no spanking. ;D

Well I don't need science or a book telling me what I didn't see. I know what I saw. It's like it happened yesterday. It's something I will never forget. The second experience was the same feeling I got when I was 11yrs old. It was a experience that to this day I will not go out a night with out my gun. I live in the country there are lots of critters that run around out here. There have been several big cat sightings in our area. Kansas university (ku) trail cam has caught one on video. My wife had one run out in front of coming home from work neighbors have seen it I've seen tracks along the wakarusa  river but I know for fact 200% what I saw was not a cat, deer, livestock of any sort, or a human being. It was a Bigfoot I honestly believe that there is enough uninhabitable land that something like this can exists.  I have done tons of research and I'm very comfortable with my findings on the Bigfoot. At least I'm no the only nutcase that believes in it. thanks for all the replies. I was just seeing what other people believed in. Hopefully one of these days it will be proven that they do exist but I feel sorry for them if man catches one we all know what the end results will be.
I've done a lot of things in my life that I'm not proud of...and the things I AM proud of, "are disgusting"

What always shocks me is how terrible the footage always is of bigfoots (bigfeet?), aliens, lake monsters, ghosts, etc..  I mean seriously... everybody's got a phone nowadays with an 8 MP camera built into it and yet the only footage we ever see is from the one guy who still owns a camera phone from 2001.  It's always grainy and shaky and out of focus.  7 Billion people walking around with modern cameras and nobody's getting proof of these things' existence?

I think the scientific term is 'sewer trout', they don't have any fins though and look suspiciously like S-turds.

I think the most compelling evidence for the non-existence of Sasquatch comes from the Sasquatch Genome website.  They say that the Sasquatch people have their own  language and laws.  Well if they have laws they have lawyers and if they have lawyers they have lawsuits.  Why in all this time have no Sasquatch lawyers filed any civil rights lawsuits or lawsuits alleging harassment, discrimination, or invasion of privacy?
