something dear to my heart
« on: August 29, 2006, 10:59:14 AM »
This is something I have been involved with for several years now and would like to get others involved, what I would like is to have a large showing of bikes at this event, last year we had many cars but only 2 bikes,I would like to change that, all I ask of you is your time and your bike, the kids would get a big kick out of it if we had a few more bikes, plus just think of all the smiles you would help bring to all the children's faces and all it would cost you is gas and a little time.
Please take the time to look at the link.  www.dreamsonwings.org

Thanks Ledbetter

that's cool 8) ledbetter. I can definitely identify with that. My wife and I work for a place called Bost Human Developement. They represent  a fair amount of folks in Arkansas with "Special Needs"      (those with birth defects, cerebral palsy, epilepsy and so on). We work with 2 young men (1 of which does alternate living with us) to assist them with everyday functions and such. Our daughter is also a client of Bost, she has a seizure disorder and anxiety problems. If the general public would get to know these folks, they would be amazed at what they would learn from them. Keep up the good work.

These Children have taught me the meaning of courage and determination, the challenges that thy face on a daily basis is almost incomprehndable to most folks.Bill your right if most of people took time to get to know these children it would chang there outlook on life ,to often we get caught up in our on petty problems and don't take time to realize how Lucky we truly are.
It can be heart braking at times, finding out that a child you had spent time with the year be for has passed, but than you hear from the family and thay tell you how that child had the best day of there lives and for a brief time was able to forget about there illness.
I urge all of you to find a organization to volunteer for and give some of your time to others who are not as fourtn it as most of us are.

All I can say is you are awesome!  I am the single parent of a special needs child (c.p.) and I know what a handfull they can be!  A friend of mine once said that they donh't learn from us, we learn from them!  I can't imagine my life without my son, and wouldn't trade him or change him for the world!  Keep up the amazing work!

Am I missing something? Why would people show up in cars OR bikes- isn't this about giving kids plane rides?

Hey Uncle,  Check the link and you'll find that there are several different activities to include a Car and Motorcycle Show.

Great move there Ledbetter!

How about staging an autoX with the event. I know that the SCCA has rules about
age limits for riders but, if your insurance covers the plane rides I'm sure the autoX could
be covered. Let me know if you think this is doable.
