Hello from the Emerald City
« on: October 14, 2013, 07:17:44 PM »
Hello All!  Greetings from Seattle!

I've been interested in motorcycles most of my life, knowing I would ride someday and then finally making that happen in 2006 when I bought my '78 CB550K.  I've been learning the mechanics of it ever since, steadily doing more of my own maintenance and repair and enjoying it.  I've been gleaning info from these forums for a few years now and figure it's time I participate more fully.  Hopefully I have gained a little experience that can help someone else, and of course I'll continue to enjoy benefitting from the vast array of knowledge shared here!

No pics available this moment, but will upload some soon.

Happy riding!

BrandEn, I live in the Madrona neighborhood.  How about you?  Checked out your pics of TAO, noticed the PO did some mods... namely rear disc brake.  How's that feel compared to the stock drum?  Does it make a big difference in the rain?

Cool, I am in Des Moines just south of SeaTac...

The 75-76 CB750F's (F0-F1) came with spoked wheels, rear disc brakes and a single disc front.
The 77-78 CB750F's (F2-F3) came with Comstar mag wheels, rear disc brakes and dual front discs. So my bike came stock with the rear disc.

All the SOHC CB750K models use a drum rear brake.

I converted TAO to spoked wheels using a 75F rear hub and a 75 GL1000 front end. Mainly just to ditch the Comstar wheels. The rear definitely is better than a drum brake, but as far as riding in the wet it is a bit better although I don't ride this bike in the rain if it can be avoided. Hope this helps!

Welcome, from a Beacon Hiller.  Could be rolling tonight if the fog burns off.
Take care,
David
