Hello from Iceland
« on: October 15, 2013, 07:30:18 AM »
Hello everyone. My name is Ágúst(August) and I come from Iceland. I am 41 years old and work as a photographer. Been reading this forum since last summer and learned a lot, really love this community. I imported on CB750K 1977 from USA this fall with a little help from a friend that lives in the States. It has always been a dream having one, since I tested one few years ago. These bikes are very hard to find here in Iceland, so I just flew it in. The bike is in very good condidion and I have been riding last 2 weeks, but very soon we have hard winter here for 7-9 months. Bike work time.

I will be asking a lot of questions and I hope you guys can be patience with me, because of language barriers. Since I started reading here, I know a little, the most hard things is to learn what is what and all the "slang" you guys use, but that will come to me, eventually!

I've had 11 bike before this one and riding bikes since 13, small ones at first, then they grew, so I know enough to work on this bike my self. Me, like many others are going the caféracer/brat/rat way. I really like what the danish Wrenchmonkees ( http://www.wrenchmonkees.com ) are doing. Personalize the bike to my self, but have everything working good. I expesially like Monkee #44 ( http://www.wrenchmonkees.com/motorcycles/monkee-44.html ) - It is good that we all dont have the same taste :)

Thank you all for this great bank of information, I really knew my bike before it came over seas :)

Here are 2 photos I took of it, I really hate the paint job!

Thanks for reading - Best, Ágúst - Everyone calls me Gusti :)

Thanks! 7 months if the weather behave. Sometimes 5. We sometimes have clear roads, but snow elsewhere over the winter. It is usually very cold to ride then. I dont have many photos of the bikes here. Where I live, we are around 4000 and maybe 20 bikes. Most of them are usual road bikes.

Welcome Gusti!

I remember seeing many motorcycles when my wife and I visited your country several years ago.  Very beautiful country, and wonderful people!

All the best,

Shane

Thanks! Yes, there are many in the south, all kinds of bikes :) Also I see many travellers come here on bikes. Did you visit the Westfjords?

No, we didn't go to that area.

Gullfoss, the geysers, and the capital city were our main areas of exploration, in addition to the Blue Lagoon.

Really a beautiful part of the world.

Were the photographs in the link taken by you?   At one time I made a living as a photographer/minilab owner but digital imaging put an end to that(actually I do not know of any photo labs left in Philly and the surrounding area.  Welcome, and if you haven't seen it many of the manuals are available for download...Larry

Yes, all taken by me. It is the same here, very few labs, none in my hometown. Yes the manuals, I was trying to download the correct one in the FAQ section. The link seem to be broken. Could you point out to me, just so I can see if I was looking in the correct place?

It worked fine now, tried before on my iPad, thanks for pointing out. Thanks for the compliment on the photos, we have great landscape here :)
