Compressor
« on: October 15, 2013, 05:28:13 PM »
This cheap compressor quit some time ago, finally took it apart - I was sure it was seized, but it was actually cracked frame. You can see it @ 3 o'clock. Due to the crack, the field moves the rotor off center and the motor will not spin

To prove it, I used C clamp to hold the tab and sure enough the motor run. For permanent -haha -  fix I driilled a hole and used a piece of wite. Looks like it holds, we shall se :)

Yeah, air compressor.

I am sure Frank would cut a new piece from a chunk of 6061 and made it stronger than before  ;D

Can you put a small piece of flat bar over the crack, then. Driil and tap 2 holes, each side...?

I thought about it, but the ring is pot metal, didn't want to mess with it much.
