Topic: Are These Gasket Seats Ready To Go?

I used a gasket prep set by 3M and this is how the gasket seats (valve and cylinder head) came out. As you can see in the closeups, there is a little pitting and scratches here and there, so I don't know if this is an issue or not. Also, how do the valves look? I haven't used grinding compound to match each valve yet, so I'm sure they will come out looking smoother, but otherwise how are they? And how about the lip/seating where the cylinder contacts the valve head?

That gasket surface is definitely good to go. For the valve seats you use the compound and use light pressure until the seats are a dull gray. Wipe the grinding compound away to check how the surface looks as the compound itself is dark gray in color

Thanks! This is the first engine I've rebuilt, so I've had many questions along the way. I'll try to post photos to this forum once I'm done with the bike. (It's a '72 CB500).
