Good source for CB550 022A carb bowl orings
« on: October 19, 2013, 05:57:40 PM »
I've been quite frustrated with my carb bowl orings swelling and seen many other threads trying all sorts of solutions to get the orings to fit. I found one post mentioning theoringstore.com but it was confusing as to which orings to order.

Well I took my best guess and these orings fit just perfectly!!! So order yourself a bunch and save yourself a lot of head banging.  8)

I bought a set of these preformed ones off of ebay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/HONDA-CB500-CB500K-CB550F-CB550-CB550K-CARB-FLOAT-BOWL-GASKETS-/190931767495?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c746b90c7&vxp=mtr

A bit expensive for o-rings but they are less hassle putting them in.

I bought two sets of the pre-formed gaskets and all eight were too small and in actuality were more of a pain in the butt to try to fit than the standard O-ring! If you got them to work, more power to you; I gave up on them and tossed the lot - a couple of dabs of superglue helped hold the original o-rings in place and they work perfectly.

I'm not familiar with these sets but I don't rule out they may fit after being in gasoline.

They are easily stretched. You can't go back the other way though.

I bought a 5 foot length of the o ring stock. Just cut it flush to the length you need, then use super glue to tack.

Me, too. Worth it to not have to futz with the O-rings. I think I did stretch them ever so slightly, just by pulling on them a tiny bit. Worth every penny, to me.
