leaking tach drive

i know this has been addressed before but after 3 seals and its still leaking its driving me crazy. my boots are now water proofed after yesterdays ride.lol.    i carefully removed the seal and made sure i installed it right. then i used a little #2 permotex on the outside of the seal and reinstalled it.  my handy led flash light shining the way.  fired up the bike with no cable installed to see what was going on.   hhhmmm    no oil  ran it four or five min .   no oil.   looked at the cable and noticed that right where the aluminum plug and the cable meet was kinked a little. and would not straighten out.  hhhmmm    thinking that the  kink in the cable causing the drive cable  to wobble a little. enough to cause the seal not to seal     hhmm    new cable on the way!   maybe that will fix it

I would think and kink would give the oil a nice little exit around the sealing surface. Good catch!!

Pack the cavity around the seal and with HT wheel bearing grease during every oil change.

It does not stop the leak 100% but pretty close,

I had replaced the seal 3 times including the "trick" of using a DOHC seal.  that was 12K miles ago.
