Oh no not so fast Lucky, I reserve the right to ask questions that have already been asked and answered a hundred times before and aggravate the hell out of everyone.  ;D ;D

But I can't this time because I've already gotten one of those float gauges and I too think it's a must have tool.

Oh that's nothing, when I got mine there was another that looked absolutely identical but labeled a different brand and it cost 2 or 3 times as much. The sites selling those were the ones that were crazy.

Lucky comes through for all you that don't have one or a country club card. Add it to your tool box. It looks cooler than a country club card that is cut up and saying I can't afford the dues BUT I now have a carb float tool.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

This and a carb sync tool were the first things I bought for my bike.

Me too.   I bought the Honda service tool back then, don't remember how much but it sure is handy and when one is using it constantly it is a must have tool for the trade. My .66....Larry

How about if someone creates a PDF template?  Sounds like a good use for one of the wife's many credit cards.

Will that tool fit in between the carbs when they are still mounted on the rack ? Guess I am still in the stone age using one of these pocket models.

Thanks good to know. The advantage to one of the real gauges as Lucky pointed out would be to see if the floats have a tilt to them. I have seen different heights at the ends of the floats due to a twist in the float assembly.

Here it is from AMAZON only $22.00 LOL..lol ;)
http://www.amazon.com/Carburetor-Float-Level-Gauge-Motorcycle/dp/B005SUYT86/ref=pd_rhf_pe_s_cp_4_8JPW?ie=UTF8&refRID=0349VC5M3KE91MTB4MQN

The quality control isn't very good, usually the scale is 0.5~1.0mm 'off' (I've checked  50~60 from K&L, maybe more in 10~11 yrs?)
You need a caliper to set the float gauge (I use accurate vernier caliper but the cheap electronic ones are OK)

That's what I use, never owned or needed the float height 'gauge'

I bought a chain breaker for $25 when I was 16 year old.
I am still using it. At least 50 years later and they are still made the same, and cost the same ! Hell of a deal.

+1, I use either a vernier or a depth mic which ever is handy at the time.
