Newbie from SoCal
« on: October 21, 2013, 03:02:14 PM »
Hello Everyone,
This is my introductory post to SOHC/4.  I have been lurking as a guest for a couple years and finally joined the group last month.  I have been a rider since I was a kid, when I bought my first Vespa at the age of 14 in 1984.  My first motorcycle was a 66 BSA Spitfire I purchased from the original owner in 1988, which I still own to this day.  Since that time, I have owned numerous scooters (still own 2 of them), BSAs (I have 3 BAS “projects” sitting in the garage), plus my Harley Shovelhead I inherited from my father-in-law 10+ years ago.  I have always worked on my bikes and have gone through various amounts of riding in my life, depending on what I could keep running.  My CB 750K8 is my first CB.  The odometer reads 9694 and it appears to be accurate, as the bike is super clean.  I just had the carbs rebuilt by Mike Nixon at The Motorcycle Project (aka www.cb750carbs.com), replaced the pod filters with an original air box, and I am in the middle of rebuilding the front brake.  Hopefully, I will take my first ride sometime this week.  After years of riding old Harleys and British bikes that take a lot to keep on the road, I am hoping the CB will be a steady runner to be my daily commuter.  I am a member of many forums and I have to say, the members on this forum are one of the most passionate I have ever seen.  Thanks for all the inspiration…  8)
