I can’t recall what gauge, fairly light and easy to bend to the curves. Used an automotive adhesive between the tubes and the shell to stop any popping in and out.

For the side panels, we drew the basic outline on a sheet of 3/4” plywood. Then a second piece 3/4” smaller all the way around and cut it out. Screwed it’s to the main board and tacked clamping blocks around the edge. Bent the tube to the template, clamped them down and welded the vertical tubes (regular dom tubing) to secure it all. In this way, all 4 sides (we built two cars) were identical.

Thank you!

How handy is the sidecar now, with sleazy Joe's impact on gas prizes.  I don't drive car if I really don't have to, the sidecar handles everything from Costco to Home Depot shopping trip.

Haven't gas prices gone up in May every year?

Switch from winter blend fuel to summer blend the prices go up a bit. But May 2020 fuel prices averages in US was around $1.73-1.75/gallon. Now average fuel price is $3/gallon.

In Czechoslovakia?  No idea. That country does not exist since 1992.

Still irrelevant.  I work, pay taxes and live in Virginia as a US Citizen.  Last time I paid for gas in Europe was in 2012.

This isn't true. prices have jumped up because industry shut downs due to covid, then everyone who was at home started improving the home .Diminished warehouse stock due to low production, supply and demand , and corporate greed is the real reason for higher prices not Joe, and if 45 decided to save America earlier, instead of cull the population, things wouldn't have changed so drastically.
It's a shame that a perfectly good thread should be stained with political bull$hit.

Sidecar! Sidecar! Sidecar!

I'm interested in some pics or a description of the way it's mounted to your bike and any adjustable bits for trim angle. It's a 3 point mount?

How goes the brake bracket shown earlier?

The mounts are beefed up copied of Velorex, there are some pictures earlier in this thread.  Three point mount is not enough, you need four points.

I will post close up pictures later today for you.

As promised.  The eye bolts on the sidecar frame and protruding from bike frame clamps are made out of blanks I got from McMaster.  I was not able to bend DOM tubing to make the gooseneck, hence the odd shape with bracing.

There is a guy named John Sweet, he builds sidecars for living for a long time and he uses 1"  solid rods, bent to S or Z shape for sidecar linkage.  Little bit overkill imho but it proved itself many times.

The circled element was supposed to be a sturdy and clever mount but I just could not get the geometry right.  Maybe if I rebuild the gooseneck I could use it.

You can tell I had problems with the height - using the Comstar 18" rear wheel - sits the rig too high for the bike frame, that's why the second bottom link is actually attached under the sidecar frame.

The disc on the rear wheel and the disc on the rig I used with a magnetic laser projection level to set up the base for the geometry,  the final adjustment I made based on road tests.

As far as the brake  - I am waiting for two last AN3 fittings to start on the hydraulic circuit.

What he said ^^^   - I will fork the brake line from the pedal to the rear wheel and have a branch go to the car.
