750 fork tubes and rear shocks
« on: October 21, 2013, 06:17:58 PM »
My tubes are shot on the k7, and I was looking at cycle X's fork tubes and lowering kit. Has anyone here used their rear shocks? Mine are rusted to hell. I was looking at their site and they have a kit for $200 with shocks and tubes, just wondering how the quality is on both parts.

Just the quality to expect. The tubes will be good and chrome and the shocks will be universal. They hit at the same price point everybody else does, just wraps the two together in a little package. They will be the same rear universal shocks you can get all day long for 75$ from any vendor

They work just fine, lots of us have them. They are oversprung for sure but unless you step up to the 200$ range for shocks then that is what you get. 200$ rear shocks gets you Hagons sprung for your weight and more or less performance goals

That lefthand google search has endless pages about this kind of stuff
The dirty girl-1976 cb750k, Ebay 836, Tracy bodykit
Round top carbs w/ 38 pilots, middle needle position, airscrew 7/8ths out, 122 main jet
Stock airbox w/ drop in K&N, Hooker 4-1

Don't trust me alone with a claw hammer and some pliers

You will get BETTER quality tubes + chrome if you buy from Forks by Frank for about 150$.

+1 for forking by Frank. I have a set on my Ironhead and they are excellent.

I had a set of the shorty shocks from cycle ex and had a positive expirence with them. In fact after I was done with them we put them on a buddy's K8 750 and he loved them. They are pretty much progressive 412s with heavy duty springs, same as you would find on a sportster lowering shock. I like cyclex I recommend you buy from them but you don't have to.

Thanks for the input, I'll probably end up going with the cycle x kit because it includes the shocks and tubes for almost the same price as franks tubes alone. Of they are both better than OEM I can't really complain!
